karlos1987
I have just had to !Removed! !Removed! about to bring my newborn home.from hospital because the seat belts in the rear of my focus are too short to go round the car seat. Obviously I can't rely on friends family to take my daughter everywhere. Do ford do a longer seat belt? Could I buy an aftermarket one?does anyone know the length? I have seen the seat belt extenders but have also seen soo many people saying these are not safe. Cheers. nazsky786
Hello, The seat belts are long enough to secure a child seat. I know because I did take my niece out somewhere. Are you 100% you installed it correctly. Use the seat belts on the rear closes to the doors don't use the centre.
karlos1987
I can 100% say they don't fit mine. I spent 40 mins outside hospital trying to fit it and it is not long enough. However my sons when he was in a rear facing seat fitted. I think it's a stupid design of car seat. However I don't want to buy a new one if I can buy a new longer seat belt cheaper. kevzs960
They should fit. Or you may need isofix brackets to fix it somewhere? Ive never saw a baby sit unable to fit in a focus. Unless youve got a really strange baby seat. Might just have to have a look at it and have a second attempt. Try and find the descrutions if you can?? stef123
I know what you mean mate, we had this problem 3 months ago with one of our cars. In the end we went for the isofix base as it was much less hassle.
karlos1987
I forgot about the isofix. That might be a good shout. Yea I'll have another look at it and try not to get stressed out this time. Lenny
Gracco is a company that do child carry cotts they have a cradle that uses the seat belt in its shortest position, You then keep the cradle in the car all of the time, Clip in and out the carry cot very simple, I'm sure you have a buggy which goes with the carry cot so you will be tied to whatever cradle they offer to support the carry cot, If there cradle only supports Isofix then you will need to purchade the isofix bracket from ford and fit it to the bolt holes under the seat prior to fitting the isofix base, Isofix kit from ford is around 25 pounds i think. Need one myself for third child in October. :o Roll on 12 months time then its forward facing seats all the way lol Congratulations and see my rear seat protection guide as there's nothing stinks like spilt milk even the powder kind, http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/25532-the-ultamate-rear-seat-cover/?pid=136578#entry136578 7 Rear footwell lighting is also ideal for locating the dropped bottle or toy during the dark winter evenings: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/34704-guide-fitting-footwell-lighting-to-your-ford/?fromsearch=1 First six months are the toughest mate, sleep deprivation and wind, Dr.Browns bottles are fantastic for helping reduce wind in the tummy, the have a back flow straw inside which draws air in from atmosphere instead of creating vacuum in the baby's tummy which causes the wind and the crying lol http://www.drbrownsbaby.com/ Had my first when i was 22 she's 7 tomorrow :) Happy Birthday Saoirse Woods

Sent from my C5303 using Ford OC mobile app lol its an experience on the first baby, Second baby onwards is worse because you know whats coming lol Keep the air con on all the time at level 1 or higher and not on recycled helps reduce there nausea. I've done a slight edit on the above post, Also tesco sell a bin think its Tommie Tippie, comes with a cassette ring of bags, Fantastic invention for nappies, pop in the nappy and it seals them in perfumed bags, ends up like a string of sausages each nappy sealed, just dump in the bin then, it was great for changing nappies during the night as we could keep it in the bedroom with no smell, dump it next morning. http://www.mothercare.ie/tommee-tippee-sangenic-hygiene-plus-advanced-nappy-disposal-system.html

jeebowhite
I cant say I ever had this problem thankfully, my Focus was long enough in the belt and seemed to have plenty spare. There is a guide on the forum that shows you how to fit isofix if you dont have any already!

I don't need help fitting it I know how it goes. The seat belt is either jammed or too short on both sides of the car. First time I tried it fitted straight into my mum's corsa. Don't like to say it but that's 1 up to Vauxhall. Lol. (don't kill me. Lol) Sent from my C5303 using Ford OC mobile app

jeebowhite
lol ;) the best thing to do here, is to remove the plastic cowling from the boot, then pull the seatbelt out as far as you can, then you can see if it jams or if it is in fact too short!
karlos1987
Ok nice one jeebowhite I'll give that a go later. I'm probably about 1 inch short as it is. Sent from my C5303 using Ford OC mobile app
Lenny
Lmao. Sorry. Sent from my C5303 using Ford OC mobile app ive emailed fordpartsuk.com told them you said Vauxhall was better than ford because you could secure the child seat no problem, FPUK were so discussed they have dropped the price of the isofix kit to 12.38 pounds in a bid to be better than Vauxhall corsa, Here's a link: http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_focus_isofix_child_seat_mounting_kit__f_1357238_c_148.htm

SeanW
I've never had a problem with my Niece or Nephew's rearward facing car seats. It took a bit of fiddling to get it over and around (tip slightly backwards, route the belt round and re-position the car seat. Admittedly, the belt was near the end of its travel - but that car seat was going nowhere!! (Was also wedged in the back of my seat). Now my Nephew is almost ready to be moved to one like his sister's - a variable seat suitable for use up until they no longer need a booster :-) Sent from my SM-P600 using Ford OC mobile app

Sent from my C5303 using Ford OC mobile app perhaps they would if you told them "VAT" has the same first two letters as "Vauxhall" Watch as they curl away from you when you say the word "vauxhall" much like a vampire to sunlight.

Sent from my C5303 using Ford OC mobile app may not need to remove panels, If you lye in the boot with a torch and look up, There are square holes in the underside o: the boot side panels, You may be able to see the seatbelt coil through these large cut outs instead of getting out the tools.
