my mondeo has gone mad it keeps refusing to start then after a Cpl of hrs or days it fires up then when I park it up it wont start again it all lights up but will not crank over Iv had it in a garage who to be honest have not got a clue I think its the transceiver imob or ecu or a lose earth any one give me a clue please any help would be a great help

It is possible it may be the starter motor, the DMF can break up over time and the swarf fill up the starter motor, a common problem on higher-mileage Mk3 Mondeos that have DMFs fitted

If you can add the type of fuel (petrol or diesel) and engine capacity (CCs) it would help, as a 2.5 OR 3.0L petrol V6, 2.0L NA straight-four is very different from a 2.0 or 2.2L TDCI in many ways and "Mondeo"/ 2004 is not enough because of all the different types

I believe this does use the DMF and is one car that we have seen others report a similar issue on.

How do you find clutch operation and gear change processing?
