jeebowhite
Is that for off road use only? as I dont believe its legal to have lights on your personal car of this nature? I know there are all sorts of regulations and red tape before anyone of the medical world can get lights on their car though :p
IcePax
They're amber not blue so legal if stopped at an emergency, or if people need to be aware of the vehicle for any legitimate reason (for example as an escort/support vehicle to a cycle race). http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/regulation/27/made Part 7 '> http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/regulation/27/made They are mainly for use on event sites though as i'm fed up of being told by jobsworths to use my hazard lights (which is bad practice due to the need to indicate when turning). They will also be able to be used if parked at an incident.
jeebowhite
Aaah I was reading a lot recently about lights and non emergency vehicles perhaps I am confusing some in my head, probably use of blue lights not amber lol. Did you install those yourself or professionally?
IcePax
They're done professionally. I don't have the skill to start playing around with my car electrics LOL
jeebowhite
Lol awesome :-D have you got run lock to accompany them?
IcePax
No, I don't need it. There's no siren either.
jeebowhite
Yeah siren definitely wouldn't be allowed. The amount of times u have stopped at rtc 's before police or ambulance th one amber would have been a lot of use!
IcePax
LMAO I don't go looking for them dude !! My previous car legally had all the toys and there were occasions for them to be used. This car is a personal car but I carry enough kit that if I come across an incident and I happen to be first on scene I'd like to be a bit more visible if/when I stop. jeebowhite
yeah couldnt agree more. I'm only a first aider, but I have come across several car v car's, 1x lorry v car and 1x motorbike vs transit! I certainly dont go looking for them, and to be honest I only have a large first aid kit with all the trimmings in my motor, but its already had to be replenished too many times! Might install some flashy ambers myself :p
IcePax
Mine are mainly for moving round event sites like I said. I can use them if I stop at a scene but that's not their primary purpose.
jeebowhite
We know Mark, your a male who escorts young and impressionable males and females wearing tight lycra and who may be in need of a kiss of life on route ;) :p lol The joys of a a life of an EMT :D :p must admit I have been tempted to volunteer at events as well, its good to know that if something should happen, you know your there to make a difference!
