can anybody recommend a nice color of heater knobs to go with the standard silver CD player in the mk2.5 focus.

I have saw a pic (I attached this image below) in the forum of ones with the black CD player and they match beautifully. would these go well with the standard CD player.

also any pics of anyone who has done this mod and like always where is best play to buy?

Thanks

This is quite a popular mod and has been documented many times. I think the silver works best generally speaking, it just blends in well, but you can get gloss black, blue, red or white I believe.

I've done this mod and I've got black and it goes very well with the silver standard stereo surround. But it's down to personal preference. I guess it also depends on a colour scheme you may or may not have going.

I have the black ones, they have silver on them too, so will pretty much go with any focus interior.

You can find them on eBay mine were just under a tenna.

Yeah that's right I paid about nine pounds for them and arrived aboout a week later. They take two minutes to swap over and a great enhancement to the car.

Here you go pal, lovely little mod, I think it's quite a common one amongst the ford owners! There a hell of a lot better than the original ones.

Thanks tom

Just ordered myself the same set in the link above. Are they easy enough to put on?

Fitting the knobs is easy. You only have to pull the original knobs off using a pair of pliers. Next you can push the custom knobs on the shafts of the heater panel.

The custom heater knobs look great but after a while I started irritating myself about the cheap looking light switch knob. Because there are no custom alternatives for the original light switch knob I decided to make one myself. I used one of the custom heater knobs to make my own matching custom light switch knob.

looks nice I like the idea of the modified light switch to match. was there much to do or just a straight forward swap over on the light switch?

The design of the light switch knob is complety different from the design of the heater knobs. So it is not a straight swap.

I removed the original knob from a donor light switch I had and used this one for the modification. First I cut off the front part of the knob and sanded it until it was completely flat. I filled the holes which were created during the cutting/sanding proces with an epoxy filler and sanded it to a completely smooth surface. I left only one small hole for the backlight of the knob. Next I painted it with a matte black spraypaint to perfectly match the rest of the light switch.

Next I cut off the transparent plastic part at the back of the custom heater knob until it was completely flat at the back. Finally I used a strong epoxy glue to glue the modified custom heater switch knob to the original light switch knob.

The modification of the light switch knob took me about 4 hours but it was definetely worth it. It looks much better than the original light switch knob and I like to have unique modifications. I was the first in the Netherlands who succesfully managed to install/program a MK2.5 instrument cluster into a MK2. At the moment I am the only one in the Netherlands (as far as I know) who succesfully modified/installed a fully functional Mondeo MK4.5 steering wheel into a Focus MK2.

I agree. When my heater knobs come and I change them over I will be trying the light switch one.

If Wilco has a guide or any tips it would new most helpful to me and anyone else who wants to try it.

Looks awesome though. Great idea and job well done Wilco.

Ok guys just a follow up on this little modification.

I got my heater control knobs and the seller through in a free silicone case for the key pad that matches the color I bought of the Heater knobs.

Here are pics of them installed and the New case on the keypad.

I'm very impressed with them.

Thanks for all the help.

Yeah i agree as well. They should be fitted as a standard as they look better than originals.

Has anyone done any other interior mods or are there any chrome surrounds for vents ect that can be done that look good?
