Buzzing From Under Dashboard (Behind Stereo)?

I have a buzzing noise that comes from under the dashboard of my Ford Fiesta Titanium 2010.

I've put a video online [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKQIFRDebHY] which you can hear the problem in. It isn't too loud, but it is there and is annoying.

<a data-ipb="nomediaparse" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKQIFRDebHY%5D%C2%A0which%20you%20can%20hear%20the%20problem%20in.%20%C2%A0It%20isn" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKQIFRDebHY%5D%C2%A0which%20you%20can%20hear%20the%20problem%20in.%20%C2%A0It%20isn" t%20too%20loud,%20but%20it%20is%20there%20and%20is%20annoying."="">

I have read on other sites [http://fiestamk7.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=558] that it could be something to do with the climate control sensor with it vibrating.

Could this be the issue? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jamie

I have this on my Focus and Ford said it is normal.

It is the sensor which measures the climate conditions in the car or something.

So if it is that, and once I have found it, what is the best way to stop it buzzing?

A new one. Only way im affraid. Theres like a circle piece of plastic on the right hand side of the stereo and its behind that. But you need to take the radio and centre console to remove it as it twists out

You do NOT need to remove the radio to get at this part.. Remove the gear stick surround, and then the dash piece around the heater dials etc, and you can get your hand in to it.... I took mine from its holder and used a cable tie to fasten it to the loom at the back. Stopped the buzzing straight away. But i've put it back now as I think it may have been getting inaccurate temp readings. But this only matters if you actually use the climate,,, I normally just put the air con on LOW, and thats just about as cold as its gonna get.

There is a Ford adaptor you can get to connect it to its normal position with less buzzing, so they must have modded the design on later cars.

http://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/ford/1736143-adaptor/

No picture, but it is basically a rubber tube about an inch long that the sensor fits into, and damps the vibrations that would be amplified by the plastic trim. Got this for mine last year and works well. The reason for buzzing in the first place is that basically there is a tiny fan blade at the end of the sensor module to drawer air in to be sampled, but that also attacts dust over time, which sticks to the blades and also gets to the fan spindle. Dismantling the sensor, cleaning up the blades and adding a bit of silicone grease to the spindle makes it silent again.

As Mike77 says, you don't remove the stereo, but instead the gear stick surround, 'secret compartment' cover below the stereo, and then unscrew the heater controls to gain access to the sensor which is the cigar shaped thing on the right.
