Has it got an air flow meter?

I'm a mechanic and had problems with a few cars. And what u are describing sounds possibly like a air flow meter problem. Another way to check a miss if it's the leafs is to drive it from 20mph. In fourth or fifth gear foot flat on accelerator and it should be smooth to pick up speed. If nope possible high tension miss. Which is ur ht leads

Hmmmm strange. Usually in gear it revs high when u accelerate it's a slipping clutch. That would be all the time not just when warm.

What mean is it pulls fine till 3500 4000rpm that feels lumpy.

Could it be coil pack ? Or if I get it put on diagnostic machine would that show what it is ? Like would ht leads or coil pack show up ?

Only if the engine management light is on. It would come up with faults. If u get it on a good machine then u can look at how the air flow meter and things are all performing.

Just annoying as was fine. Did notice when changed spark plugs it running rich. Just don't understand the missing/popping when. Cold and fact sometime goes great and other it is slow over 4000rpm. Gonna service it at weekend as might help and would it defo be worth doing coil pack and ht leads ?

Try the 5th foot flat on accelerator and that will tell u if u have a ht miss. If it's lumpy or not

Lambda sensor.

More than likely a Lambda sensor. Don't bother trying to hook it up to diagnostics as they very very rarely read them anyway, in fact i have never known an Escort read anything on diagnostics.

Will try that then would that be why running rich when checked spark plugs ? And would it be worth doing coil pack ?

How do u know it's running rich? Of it's the plugs that are causing the missing then I would change the coil too

Plugs were wet when changed them and would that be coil pack ?

If say one is wet. And smells like fuel. It means that plug isn't sparking. There for fuel isn't being ignited. So that's y the plug will be wet. And if they are dry then it's is sparking.
