Hi guys

So far:

DMB gel badges

LED all inside lights

PhilipsXtremeVision H7 (thinking of some xenon vision instead tho)

Second reverse light

cree reverse bulbs

Blacked out middle brake light (makes the spoiler look so much better I think)

fly eyed rear lights (taken off after nearly being rear ended by the future father in law)

carbon wrapped bonnet strip

front and rear mud flaps (had mix up so waiting for front set to come, sent me fiesta front instead and the mrs didnt want them on hers :S)

silvatec repeaters side and back

oem focus mats

aux lead through chubby hole

twin boot lights

To do:

Heko wind deflectors (awaiting delivery)

Plastidip alloys (waiting for a good day with some time to get them off and done)

Rear parking sensors

New alloys? as and when find a nice set that will suit

Eibach lowering springs

Sub and Amp

If anyone has any ideas im all ears, thanks for having a look. watch this space.

Ill get some nights shots up as and when I can.

Cheers

pics when she had just had a nice wash and full wax :D

Question Time >>>

I have been looking at getting a sub for a while now and would like some opinions on what would be best for a novice like myself?

From what I can see there's two types - sub with amp built in or separate sub and amp. Which is best?

Links to what Ive been looking at, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Also from research I know that I will need one of these as not looking to change out factory Sony HU -

I also found that site today! It's great!

As for the sub, I have a JL audio 10" sub for sale if you're interested!

If you look at my build thread for my sub enclosure you'll see it or I can post a link to the actual sale thread?

It requires 300w RMS to power it so I would suggest a JL audio JX500/1d amp to power it! :)

Nice sub, might be interested in it . . .

Lennys done you a nice promo with that custom enclosure

Never had to wire up a separate sub and amp before only even had Active subs before. How easy is it? Seen a few different threads about it but aint sure. Thanks for the advice mate

Aux lead mod

Did this a couple of months ago think it's worth a share. I apologise that I havnt got all the photos, if you want any let me know.

First unscrew the glove box. I then get a right angle aux lead extender (Like the below) through and down into the dash. Make sure to plug it in as well. post-56772-14205842091_thumb.jpg

Take off the panels in the footwells on both sides of the dash to give good access.

In my mk2.5 i have the garage door so there is no cigarette lighter however the hole for it is still in the frame underneath.

Locate the hole using your fingers (shouldn't be too hard as quite a large hole).

Next is the fun part, get the drill out and pop a hole through. Don't press too hard, don't want to damage any of the cables etc behind. Make sure the hole is big enough to pop the male end of the aux lead through.

post-56772-142058462223_thumb.jpg

I've used a slim aux lead so that the mat sits nicely over

post-56772-14205846813_thumb.jpg

post-56772-142058472206_thumb.jpg

The aux is now in a great place to use it and then pop away conveniently. Especially if like me you your phone sits In the cup holder.

Thanks for looking guys. Any questions let me know

To wire a sub & amp the basic way (can be more complex depending on wether your sub is single coil or dual) is really easy!

•All you need is a power lead from the battery to the amp. Approx 8-4awg*

•An earth lead from the chassis to the amp approx 8-4awg*

•A signal wire from your switched ignition/stereo signal out

•Phono cables or a high level output from your headunit/loom to your amp

• wires from the amp to the sub

& you're done!

*Depending on the power requirements

Have you made a start on the audio install/build?

Nah buddy not yet. Compiling all true bits first before starting. Also waiting on brother in law to lend me his table saw for some neat cutting. Only got cables left to get but gotta wait til pay day. Got insurance and tax coming up too only 360quid from admiral so can't complain compared to too last year lol but tax 200 quid so might have to take advantage of the pay monthly direct debit instead.

I'll let you know when its started. Done a mock up of the box in card board and was surprised at the size. Decided to go with manufacturers suggested box dimensions to start to get max performance then maybe in the future look to put together a box to go in corner boot like lenny and that have got.

What do people reckon on binding posts for sub box. Seen this on fleabay number 270790443340

Any input is appreciated

Insurance Is dirt cheap for you! Tax is mad though.. But then mine's £180 a year. I renewed it before the pay monthly direct debit came in so had to pay upright :(

As for the sub enclosure. I've fitted my box to the side of the boot and it's worth doing along with a false floor to mount the amp under as it helps stop things moving around and keeps things out of site too! :)

Those binding posts look great! I paid about £4 for some plastic binding posts but for that price id say go for the better quality one :)

If you need any help with cables PM me :)

The bonus of being 23 with 1yr ncb and a 2 litre lol it's proper max considering the misses 1.6tdci titanium x fiesta 13plate tax is 0.00!

Been having a look around at different binging posts and heard stories of them melting but think that's only with the really high powered setups. Not sure if going to attach it somewhere. Think the weight of it all will hold it down but will have to see when we get there

Are they the pedal covers that clip over the top & has little screws that push against the back of the pedal?

liking the pedal covers.

can I as how they fitted?

They were quite easy to fit once I realized how.

First off take off the original clutch and brake cover which look like this

post-56772-142281866906_thumb.jpg (the rear of the rubber original cover is exactly the same as that with the metal cover)

Then using the Alan key provided unscrew the metal plate and whip it off to leave the rubber grip which then with some tinkering will eventually sit in the same position as the original. Pop the metal cover back on and tighten screws with the provided Alan key. It was a bit difficult as the grip goes over everyside of the metal pedal but you eventually get there and have this

post-56772-142281871174_thumb.jpg

post-56772-142281870131_thumb.jpg

The accelerator pedal cover goes straight on the original. Do the same thing with taking the metal cover off and work it into position then pop it back on and tighten. Probs took me 30 mins which included 20 mins doing it wrong lol

When I got a bit more time I will take one off and re do with pics if you like?

Are they the pedal covers that clip over the top & has little screws that push against the back of the pedal?

Yea clip over the pedals the same as the originals top bottom and both sides and the screws screw into the rubber grip

So the post man came to work today with lots of little parcels for me. . . . .

post-56772-14231663673_thumb.jpg the receptionist is now charging me for taking my deliveries lol

Pretty much got everything I need now to start the sub enclosure build and rig it all up! Just waiting on some carpet from radio world (I've got the links to every thing in the box if anyone wants em)

. . .

Got bored the other night so decided to make a cardboard mock up enclosure in preparation of the real thing.

Wish I had a garage so could get things done after work. Bring on summer!

Enclosure's looking good! What exactly's in the box?

I see;

Trim removal tools

Amp wiring kit

Vibe Fastplug

Gorilla glue

A piggyback fuse

Speaker binding posts

Possibly a high to low level converter?

If it is a high to low level signal converter.. How come?

Anything else hiding in there? ;)

All correct! 1 good star for you!

Nothing else except receipts in there lol

Hi lo converter = Decided to keep factory sony hu as like the sound it gives atm. And When/if I decide to change hu I'll already have the audio cables sitting there ready to plug in. Going to use fuse tap for amp lead attached to a switch in the chubby hope with the obd plug so can switch it off if needed ( once a week taxi the grandparents around and I doubt they'll be interested in listening lol)

If you go for the JL audio JX500/1D then you can wire High level inputs straight into it! :) no need for an adapter/converter

Also, the power wire for the sub MUST come fused from the battery as it carries a lot of current. You could always put a switch in the signal wire so the amp can be switched off whenever you choose

The Blue wire on the back of the headunit is USUALLY the antenna +12v. Aka, the signal wire used for amps :)

That's the amp I got sitting pretty in its box. Rather do it the old fashioned way so audio input there when hu gets upgraded so don't have to take the car apart again.

Yea that's the wire I meant. Couldn't remember what it was called lol Don't think the factory hu has a signal wire for an amp but might have to have a look . . .
