zace66
... and runs well. However today we looked under the bonnet (we did so before buying) and noticed the MAF lead was not connected. We connected it back up and when driving found we had no power when accelerating, disconnect it and voila. The question is, will it bugger the engine if left unconnected ? The gave me a 3 month warranty, it had been serviced (should this have been noticed?) and passed its MOT, so should this be covered? They said obviously a 10 year old car there will be odd things that arent right - but is this fault a deal breaker? I know its only 40 to 50 quid to replace, but they took my old car off me for 85 quid (was worth possibly 150) - so should I go to the garage and kick up a stink? DieselPig
The MAF is fitted to allow the ECU to regulate the fuel flow into the engine. Without the MAF it may run too rich and waste fuel or too lean and compromise performance. If they MOT'd it in this state I would question their ability as a garage and the MOT, what other horrors await you?
