Ianb
No idea with Ford. eBay has a ton of them on there... Might be a chance to pick some up there, or even the scrapyard somewhere?

Ianb
You have a couple options then: 1. Either get them yourself from eBay and take them to the repair shop to fit. 2. Let repair shop sort out the chrome ones and then buy the black ones from eBay and swap them with the chrome ones and flog chrome ones... Are you paying for the work to be done? Option 1 might be easier, as at least you don't have the hassle, but then it might take more time to get the car back...

One screw and one plug, I changed mine from silver to black, ironically enough i sold my chrome set to a guy whom had ying&yang one chrome and one black headlight. So you're not the first

troy45
Can't see Ford not having both types of headlamp available as service parts - isn't going to do their insurance ratings any good if you have to replace a pair of headlamps every time a black one gets damaged. Quick search found this one http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_focus_mk3_halogen_headlamp_housing_lh_2007_black_bezel_rhd_f_1754447_c_553.htm Your repairer is either telling porkies or just plain useless!
Lenny
just got car back from repiarers ,and once again they have put a chrome inner headlight on instead of black.i did warn them not to.they recon they cant get a black style one ,ive seen them about.but they recon they have been superseeded by the chrome ones.do fords still sell the black onesI dont want to cause any upset or annoyance, However here is my theroy, The body repair shop is/has processing/processed an invoice to the insurance company with the price of a brand new replacement headlight for your car aswell as labour costs, paint and whatever else was required bulbs etc. Now what the body shop done was: go to a scrap yard or get on the phone to a contact whom provided them with a headlight from a breakers yard from a ford focus to fit to your car. They make double the profit from the insurance company claiming to have paid ford service desk top dollar for your replacement headlight. How do i come to this conclusion you may ask? Well if you write down your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) found on windscreen under passenger wiper go to your local or any ford service parts desk, show them the VIN and request a CHROME headlight, Ford will say No "the vin number only displays black headlights for that particular vehicle" I know this because i went to ford with my VIN wanting to purchase black headlights and they could not provide me with those parts because they were not coming up on the system as an available part for my particular vehicle, This is exactly why i purchased my own copy of ford parts software at the time enabling me to access parts overview and obtain specific part numbers without using a VIN number i could then walk in to ford and request a specific part from a premium model enabling me to upgrade my spec outside of VIN control. All body shops cash in on insurances, Only advise i can give you is to "go through the channels" Phone your insurance company and inform them of the cosmetic differences which also affect the resale value since it is visible from Google Earth that the headlights are different, surly it is the companys intention to replace what has been lost in \ like for like bases and not using parts from a breakers yard, because had the body repair specialists contaced ford with the Vehicles VIN the correct parts would have been supplied and fitted however this is clearly not the case and as a loyal customer i would advise you not to pay for the repair work until the issue of the incorrect headlight can be resolved. This excludes you from getting involved in any sort of confrontation with the body shop as it is the insurance companies dutie to insure there customers are 100% satisfied and taken care of. If i was you though id be goin all out Samuel L Jackson, Pulp Fiction Style on his A.SS Quick search on Ford Uk shows they are most definitely still stocking both headlights. Ianb
Cheese and rice, 1 black and 1 chrome! That's effing ridiculous... And SOMEONE has paid for that; whether it be you, or some insurers somewhere.. Sounds like they're having a giraffe - sad story with giraffes actually: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-28586702 I'd be tempted to tell them to shove that light up their exhaust pipes! "oh sorry mate, Ford stopped making Mk2 bumpers and we can't find one anywhere, so we got a Mk3 bumper for you and cable tied and duct taped it on!... only problem with it is that it's pink and your car is black.."

Ianb
looks chrome to me maybe trick of the light . You serious? The housing is a clear plastic yes? Inside the plastic to the left hand side is a yellow indicator to the immediate right is a patch of black (that is the colour of the inside of the light - Black), the next you see is indeed chrome, that is the surround to the headlight bulb, this is chrome on every single light whether it be the black inside, silver inside, mk2 or mk2.5, the same for the sidelight etc. If you have a 'black' light NOT like this one, then I suspect you either have a custom home made job, or some aftermarket light.

Just so everyone is on the same page here, when you say that the repair shop stuck a chrome light in your focus, can you confirm the entire interior of the light is chrome? Like this: http://www.european-parts.net/catalog/images/mk2flchrsw.jpg Or are you saying they replaced it with one where the majority of the interior is black with that 'little' corner bit being chrome? (I say 'little' just to describe it, it's not a dig)
