Lulumotzzi
Got a ford fiesta 54 plate (1.4 diesel ghia) and her air con isn't working (blows warm air). I have noted the following things: - refrigerant level is fine - main radiator cooling fan doesn't run when a/c is switched on (is it supposed to?) - high and low pipes are cool but neither are super cold when running I realise it's probably a garage job but I just want to get as much info as possible to prepare myself for the bill! Someone suggested the compressor may have gone, how would I diagnose that? Any advice appreciated, even if it's "start saving!!" :(
kevzs960
How do you know the refrigerrant level is fine?? The one aircon pipe should be near enough freezing to the touch. Normakly has condensation on it. The cooling fan should cut in and the clutch on the compresser should kick in and out as it regulates the temprate and pressure build up etc. Even a 10-20% decrease in aircon gas will cause the aircon not to work correct. Lulumotzzi
I have a check trigger/regas can and it's at 45 atm. Neither pipes are freezing and the cooling fan is not kicking and I can't hear any additional sounds when I flick it on (what's the compressor sound like?) Could it be an electrical fault then where switching the air con on doesn't trigger the fan or the compressor to kick in?
kevzs960
You need to get it checked for leaks first really. If theres a leak then t wont work. If there are no leaks then it may be a wiring or component issue Sent from my GT-I9195 using Ford OC mobile app
DieselPig
When you turn it on you should hear the air-con clutch clicking in and out. If your confident the system is filled check the fuses and wiring to the air-con unit.
