Coffee + Sync = Bad Combination.

22 posts in this topic

Hi guys, so my partner's coffee exploded in my car this morning.. I laughed it off at the time but after we cleaned it up, my sync screen has gone pale/white. Everything is functioning correctly but the screen itself is failing.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks in advance, Lucas.

Think I'll have to. No evidence of liquid damage from what I can see so should be okay..

Yup I'd defiantly play dumb, espically being under warranty they probably won't question it.

Even when they open it up and see liquid damage?

I didn't see any large amounts of liquids enter through the buttons, only droplets which I cleaned off immediately.. Not sure what they'll say but it's worth a try, especially when in was in for repair only 3 weeks ago...

It'll dry by then :P. As long as they don't look on here you should get away with it lol.

Hi guys,

Update - got away with it.

Agreed that the screen needs replacing under warranty so will go back to have it fitted in 2 weeks.

She told me the part alone costs £450! With labour upwards of £700!

Booked a hire car for the day as well so looking forward to seeing what they offer me :)

Blimey, around £1200 in total! They must be estimating over a days work for one person on that, surely it can't be that hard to take the screen out? It's not exactly a hidden away part which can't be seen...

Sorry I don't think I explained very well, I meant upwards of £700 for parts and Labour!

But definitely gold spanners time!

Seeing as the whole radio system in your car is about £1400 to supply you could have had a worse time.

Now I re-read your message it does make sense that it's £700 in total lol. My bad!

Do you get a free cuppa with it? ;)

No not this time Sean haha,

Courtesy car was excellent though,

A 14 Plate 1.0 Ecoboost Fiesta with only 400 miles on it!

I was so impressed that when they rang me at 12 to say my car was ready, I asked what time they close so I could spend the whole day driving it!

Fantastic power from that 1 litre engine - I was amazed.

I was sad to collect mine as it feels so slow now haha.

Screen has been replaced but now its saying that my iPhone doesn't support text message alerts when it has been working for the last 6 months.

Just can't win atm, I'll try a reset in a few days!!

Sorry for the long post.

Hope everyone's well, Lucas.
