Water In Boot

I open the boot today to see loads of water and I mean loads. I have like a litre of water in the boot. You can see water drops on the subwoofer, and on the parcel shelf . I was hit in the back by a f****** stupid !Removed!. I've got issues not of water in boot and the dash saying boot is open till u open it and close it abit more. The repair shop has said the boot lid looks ok but it don't feel in line when you run your fingers in the grooves. Is this a sign that my car is twisted and it's time to let it go?

The guy hit the car while it was stationary which is the worse. And he won't pay for it . He's hide his car so I carnt get his reg . And police don't care. He my neighbour as well.

Can anyone help I a temporary fix or is it best to sell the car?

It may need realigned or the catch needs adjusted both easy jobs heres a tip if you have liquid car polish open the boot and apply it to the rubber seal all the way round close the boot now reopen and look at the painted surface if the seal is doing its job youll see the polish has transferred

I will try that. I've look at the bolts on the boot lid and you can see a silver lip around the bolt. My pride and joy hit and the guy saying he never done it. Up try ur suggestion. Thanks for help.

Hi,

A common problem on the focus mk2 and mk2.5 2005-2011 hatchback models is the boot leak,

This problem is caused by the seals on the bolts which hold the rear spoiler to the boot lid,

If you remove the rear spoiler,

Dry the area,

Apply bathroom silicone around the bolt holes exterior of the boot panel,

Refit the spoiler,

Job done,

Ive removed mine and sealed it prior to this common problem ever getting a chance to manifest itself,

This may not solve your specific issue however it is a known common fault with the design so worth considering.

Also check the tail light grommet seals.

Ok. So that prob why there is do much water. Boot out of light and the focus has a common problem. I will try that tomorrow also. Just need to stop water getting in. I'm worried that I might mess up the sub or I get a major rust issue.

Finding the leak is the first step boot seal spoiler seal or rear lights and rear hinges are the culprits so ide check the boots sealing properly then do the spoiler and rear lights i use marine sealant as it turns into a rubber seal that lasts

Took a long time to find the source of a waterleak in my boot - was getting water under the carpet on the left hand side so wasn't coming from the spoiler or boot seal. Replaced the inserts where the tail lamps are secured, also used putty to try and guide any water away from these also. Put silicone all the way round the hinge pockets as well but no joy.

Finally bit the bullet and got the boot carpet out plus the side carpet on that side - absolutely no sign of water dripping down the inner panels at all, eventually worked out it was coming through the sealer that's applied in the corners of the boot floor where several panels meet up - behind where they insert a little black bag of sound deadening foam material. Could see this is manually applied before the car is painted, and is totally blind so the build process must have been just to bung a lot of sealer in that area and hope!

Used silicone sealer to fix it, then got some water coming in an inch or so away from the original place but now bone dry after bunging in some more sealer. Reckon it's been like that from new
