daveyboy123
Hi all , as topic indicates, I am trying to find where the maf sensor is located , I've not been able to find a picture or video relating to my car and have no idea where this part is located. The reason I am looking is because I have a high voltage engine management light which indicates maf fault, after some reading a lot of things I've seen seem to suggest it could just be a dirty sensor that needs cleaning which is why I want to try myself if it's simple enough before having to pay a mechanic. Many thanks
stef123
You will find the MAF sensor between the air box and the turbo.

daveyboy123
As I'm not sure what to do,is this more of a job for a qualified mechanic? Will it cause bigger problems/damage if left?
stef123
Can you say what code your getting and what the symptoms are? I don't have a 1.6 tdci so I can't even take a picture for you to help you out.
daveyboy123
Sorry for late reply. Error code is p0103. I haven't noticed any symptoms or bad performance etc , this code puts the engine management light on dash.
geminitrad
My 2004 1.6 TDCi has just come up with the same error code. I'm pretty well convinced that my MAF is u/s because my diagnostic reader is showing a high air flow (196.4 gm/sec) that isn't changing at different engine revs. When unplugged the reading changes to '0' and I can't see any bad connections. The MAF, by the way, is the gizmo that's on the 1st short length of hose that's coming out of the air cleaner box. There's a connection plugged into it with 4 wires in it. Looks like a new MAF includes the short length of hose as well (maybe can't be separated) ________________________ 2004 1.6 TDCi Zetec

daveyboy123
With mine I have not noticed any lack of power or changes to mpg. When reading on internet a lot of people seem to suggest the sensor is at fault a lot oftime and usually just needs cleaning but I have been unable to determine how to get sensor out to clean
