Philf1
So my son has been to our local Ford dealer today and placed his order for a Frozen white ST3. He's got it on a 3 year options deal and is trading in his 57 reg Clio Sport 197. We are now a dual Fiesta ST family, just my daughter to convert now (she wants a MK6 ST). They should look good on the drive together. Not certain on delivery date but that should be confirmed in the next couple of days. We are already planning mods and I've told him he will have to sign up to FOC. One question for any other ST3 owners is about puddle lights in the mirrors. Does it have these as the brochure is not very clear one bit says it does other that it doesn't? Dealer didn't think it had them so if anyone can clarify he'd be grateful. Look out for pictures in a few weeks.
Clarky2013
Yup to puddle lights on the st3 :)

MartynS
The puddle lights come with the powerfold mirrors which are part of the convenience pack which is standard on the ST3 and an option on the ST2 (not sure about ST1, anyone buy that?!) Phil 87
Good to hear Phil, he'll stand out against all the blue ones haha. And yes mine also has the puddle lights.

alexp999
You'll have to convince your daughter to get a red ST, that would look awesome on the drive away with a blue and white one, lol. I didn't think it was going to be long the way you had been talking. Is he going to get a white engine cover?

Pretty much the same spec as a Titanium X but the centre head rest is optional which i got myself. Think the Style pack is free at the mo too, heard that from Clarky. As Alex said.. Red one next.. that would be a great pic, all in the same family too :D Maybe upgrade from a mk6 to a new one.... Although i do really like the mk6.5 ST's... Something about them! Did you get every option on the list or am I the only one who did that? :)
alexp999
DDS = Deflation Detection System
Hinkko360
I was told from the dealer when i ordered mine that my car won't come with DDS because it comes with a spear wheel but i guess i will find out when i get a puncture
Phil 87
I was told DDS was discontinued, and it certainly wasn't available as an option when I ordered mine, I would have got it if I could. Are some dealers still allowing people to get this on new cars?
Clarky2013
DDS is standard on all st3's as of late june builds. It is no longer an option to add
Phil 87
That's strange, so it went from optional extra to not available to standard haha. Maybe they were trying to improve it, I know a lot of people were complaining about it before. Mine was built in April so I assume it doesn't have it, although I notice it has the LED for it when I do the LED test. What's it called on Etis? Edit: I think I answered my own question: "Less Tyre Inflation Monitor" :(
MartynS
I've got it on mine (made the dealer throw it in) and it does seem to work but not that quickly. I had a false warning from it in the past which I verified using a pump, then another warning which admittedly I dismissed without doing anything more than a visual inspection. I then noticed a while after that one of the rears looked different to the other three (turns out it was on 18psi ) so pumped it up then managed to drive 15 miles before it detected anything and warned me! So it does seem to work but takes a long time to detect when you inflate them. Can't really comment on how quick it picks up a deflation though! alexp999
It is designed to detect a flat rather than just low pressure. You are supposed yo reset it when you get new tyres or adjust the pressures. It just uses the abs sensor to measure the rolling diameter of the tyre. Only a bit of software on existing hardware really.
MartynS
I thought the purpose was to detect any change in the pressure? Generally you can tell when your tyre is completely flat lol. I know you're meant to reset it when changing them but I simply wanted to see how long it would take to notice it if I didn't. Not going to do any harm, and it's a good test of the system! As you say it's only a software switch so seems a bit off that they charge you extra for it. It's like the curtain airbags on the Fiesta back in 2010 being an optional extra of £250 or something like that. Making you pay for extra safety equipment isn't the best lol. The red white and blue was exactly what i was thinking - like the minis in the italian job
