Engine Bay Detailer?

Hello,

What does everyone seem to use to clean and detail engine bay when I was at ford fair a few weeks ago i spoke to a guy with a fiesta which had an immaculate engine bay  and he was cleaning/detailing it with a can of silicone spray and a brush.

Just wondering if anybody else uses this and if its good?

Thanks

Hi, I use a couple of Auto Glym products for cleaning/detailing the engine bay.

First use 'Engine & Machine Cleaner', spray it on then work it into the dirt with an old paint brush then rinse off with hose pipe, taking care not to get too much water near any electrics!

Then to finish off spray on 'Vinyl & Rubber Care' which will put a shine on the cleaned engine bay.

Picture of my old Mk7.5 ST following the above treatment.

I usually just wipe out the engine bay with a wet microfibre to remove most if the dust and grime, then after putting tyre black on the wheels (megs endurance) i use the same sponge and wipe it over all the plastic parts and it brings them up nice and glossy

I tend to lift the bonnet, close my eyes - coz the dirt doesn't exist if I can't see it - and close it again :D

I use 303 aerospace. it lasts a long time. I spray the engine bay ( engine running ) with jet wash, clean with g101 at 10:1, rinse and dry off and spray with 303. I have tried megs endurance tire gel and that works if you use a small amount as it's very oily so expect dust attraction. but 303 all the way.
