Warranty Questions??

Was just in the black wheels topic and Blue asked if you get wheels refurbished or changed colour of your alloys would this void the warranty?

Also what about changing colour of brake calipers ?

Also I'm planning on lowering my car using same kit as Ford would this void mines?

Thanks in advanced

I don't think refurbing the wheels or changing the colour of the wheels/calipers will void the warranty.

Lowering probably will, but only void the warranty on the suspension components I think?

As long as your insurance company knows I can't see there being an issue IMO.

Cheers

a didnt think it would to be honest but was weary of the suspension .... ford themselves use Eibach to lower zetec s and you can buy this from ford for £167 (i can get it for £125 fordparksuk) would it be void if i got same part and had fitted by ford or is that a long shot?

It won't void the warranty if you are having genuine parts and accessories fitted.

I really hope they wouldn't void the warranty for changing wheel colour - that would be ridiculous haha!

As long as they are fitted properly it shouldn't matter who fits them, although if there is ever a problem down the line and it is found they were not fitted correctly that could affect the warranty if it was not done by a ford dealer.

As for painting alloys I would think it just voids any warranty on the wheels themselves, such as perforation/peeling, etc.

As Alex says I would imagine it's only if you use Ford approved parts. Read the warranty carefully. I have seen some which say if the car is modified in any way the whole warranty is void.

Any warranty claim would only be void in the event your modification caused it. IE painting wheels won't stop you claiming if your stereo packs up.

That'd be a great argument!

"Can you help me, my stereo isn't working?"

"Oh, I'm afraid I can't"

"What's that?"

"Your wheels... They're painted..."

:D

It would void the anti corrosion warranty on the wheels, mine has a little scab on one at the moment and ford are going to have it back soon when I get a moment, only in the first year though, after that your rims won't be covered.

Don't worry then, paint away, tbf as well I doubt they'd even notice or pay attention to it if you took the car there with the engine spraying fuel and oil all over the place.

You would be surprised. You can disbelieve me if you want but I have seen this written into a warranty. They can then use it to get out of paying for anything. This is why I said read the small print.
