Hurrikeen
I have a Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI, 08 plate. Recently a "whooshing" like noise sounds when I put my foot on the accelerator and it's driving me insane. Initially it sounded like the fan that covers the width of the dashboard under the windscreen, however when I put my windows down and accelerate, I can hear the noise quite prominently as though it could be turbo related (although I am useless at the finer specifics of mechanics so I could well be wrong). I'm taking into the garage tomorrow afternoon, but I was hopeful someone may be able to give me a heads up on what it could be / costs etc. Thanks y'all! dezwez
check all the rubber pipes for splits. The big rubber pipe that goes to the turbosometime spilt underneath so you cant see it :)
Fred80
Yeah it sounds like a boost leak. As above, check/pull/bend/tug all pipes for anything obvious. Even really small pipes can make a lot of noise as the pressure is relatively quite high.
