Error Codes And Some Other Things Maybe?

Been checking my car out today with IDS.

Two fault codes as follows:

Diagnostic Menu : (MIL)

(PCM) (CMDTCs)
P0380-61- (PCM) - Glowplug control circuit - Above Maximum Threshold, (DTC) present at time of request, (MIL) Off for this (DTC), Test Complete
P2459-61- (PCM) - Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Frequency - Above Maximum Threshold, (DTC) present at time of request, (MIL) Off for this (DTC), Test Complete
Select Option
EXIT

Car is in limp mode constantly, I tried to do a static regneration of the DPF but car was taking ages to warm up so went for a drive, once it got to tempreture I started getting wiffs of smoke out the exhaust so somehow got it to regenrate the DPF even while driving with the static test.

The second one I assume means the filter has not been regenerated at the frequency that it should have bee. I have no codes saying ash build up to high or filter blocked etc, just that one.

The other thing that seemed a little odd was I could not connect to the GEM module which I kind of assumed it should have on my car? Anyone know how I can confirm if it should have the GEM, it also woudl not connect to SRM I think safety restraint module? Now surely that is the airbag module and also should be able to connect to?

I am wodering if something is amiss as to why it seems to talk to everything else but not those two.

On the plus side I have updated the PCM with a newer calibration file, boy that was fun lol

Stil finding my way around IDS to be fair.

Have you run out of EOYLS fluid ? no fluid no regeneration ? . :D :driving:

You check glow plugs if glow plugs gone can put into limp mode

It was serviced at a main ford dealer for it's 75K or 6 year service I think it was where the EOYLS fluid should be filled, so I am fairly confident it would have been done then. I have had it regenerating with IDS although it was while I was driving it to get the engine temp up to 65 degrees to start the static regeneration, I saw clouds of smoke puffing out the exhaust whilst I was driving.

As I have the glow plug DTC then I am thinking along the same lines, as glow plugs on modern diesels are not required for cold starting anymore they are used for emissions and also smooth engine idling these days,, I have read that that fault can stop regeneration happening.

I wish I could do a dynamic regeneration but you need a password for IDS to do that one, and since trying the first static regeneration it keeps coming up with communication failure now when I try and run the static test again. This may or may not be to do with something not being right on the network, if I run a network test it says it can't connect with the GEM or RCM module and lists them as being standard equipment, so either this is because of the VCM or there is a fault which could be the IPK cluster issue that had been mentioned in another post causing the Limp home mode.

Hmmm dealer diagnostics still don't give a much clearer picture just points you in the right directions better lol

I also think I have a dicky instrument cluster as I get a U1900 code when performing the test on that, it does say it can sometimes be caused by normal diagnostic functions, however as it won't communicate with the GEM and RCM then I assume a faulty cluster coudl cause the communication issues?

Anyone know if I am barking up the right or wrong tree?

To replace the IPK does it need to be new one or can a second hand be reprogrammed with IDS?

Although I can send signals to the cluster to check the gauges from IDS so maybe the cluster is not faulty?

Just wondering what is causing the communications failure, I know on my ZTT T4 diagnostics needs to see all ECU's and fitted options even the sat nav driver and stereo to be able to communicate properly with the CAN bus or was it the K line I can't remember off hand.
