Focus Mk2 Electrics: What Are These?

Hi folks - new poster here :)
I'm doing a front-end rebuild of a crash-damaged Mark 2 Focus.
I've had some work done that I couldn't do myself, and I've been left with these things (they were just left in the passenger footwell). Any idea what they are, and whether I actually need them? (It's possible some new ones were fitted - I'll check that once I know what they are and where they live... )
Cheers in advance :)

Those are the ends of the ribbon cables which connect the heated screen to the car.

You'll see the mating ends of the cables at the bottom corners of the screen underneath the plastic leafscreen panel which covers the wiper motor.

Great - thanks very much.

I've not checked whether there are new/other ones in place (due to the rain), and I'm assuming they normally come attached to a new screen via the ribbon, and aren't detachable at the screen end (which is why they've been cut). Given this, would it be possible to re-use these, and splice them back on if there's enough ribbon left at the screen end?

Don't know if there's a suitable way to repair the ribbons - would have to wonder why they've been cut in the first place?

With the car having had a front end crash was the original screen damaged and the ribbons cut instead of disconnecting the plugs to remove it? then it'll depend if the replacement screen was heated or not.

if they are cut at the screen then no you cant repair it a new screen will come with the ribbon attatched

Only way to be sure is lift the scuttle panel and see if the current windscreen has the heater contacts in place.

OK, having taken the scuttle panel off, the current screen *does* appear to be connected up properly. The screen wasn't replaced as part of this work (it wasn't damaged in the crash), which means either:

  • The snipped cables were from a past screen change, and were found somewhere on/in the car by the mechanic doing the work for me; or
  • They have nothing to do with my car, and were left there by the mechanic who was simultaneously doing another job (it *was* a Ford garage... ).

Either way, nothing for me to worry about.

Thanks for your help :)
