leetomdocherty
I recently passed my driving test at the ripe old age of 25. I used to think is never really needed it when I was younger which I now realise was ridiculous. Anyway, I learned to drive in a fiesta and loved it, my girlfriend has a Ka and loved that so it seemed logical to stick with Ford so we just bought a Focus, which I think going by the descriptions I've seen is a mk 2.5 (?). It's an 08 plate anyway. First time on any car forums so, hello! Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Ianb
Hello and welcome :) Congratulations on passing your test. Judging by the year (08) I'd say it's a mk2.5, I don't recall any mk2's carrying an 08 plate. What is it though? Also petrol/diesel? Picked a good forum, they're a very helpful bunch on here! leetomdocherty
Hello mate and thank you. It's a style, 1.6 petrol. Just got it on Thursday, really like it! Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Ianb
Well from what I hear mk2 and mk2.5's are identical beneath the body work, so from what I've experienced in mine, it certainly is a nice car to drive. Mines a diesel though. I also have a style, they're actually the entry level focus, with zetec being next, etc I don't know whether you've joined for any particular reason (into modding, or just for fun etc) but one change I made to my focus which was very easy, was to change the centre console to one with an arm rest. If im correct yours won't have an armrest so that could be a comfort factor to look into. I can give you links later when I'm on my computer if you like. Sent via carrier pigeon using Ford OC Cool yeah that would be great. Well I joined for fun really, general interest/information etc. the actual way that I found the forum is because when I got back from my first drive I parked up, switched the lights off, ignition and that, locked it but realised that the light on the dash with the time and mileage on the car stayed lit up. I wondered if this was right so I googled it and found something on here that said it should go off after the computer has done it's monitoring of the engine and that. But the reason I was googling it was because when i first went to look at it at the dealers the battery was flat when they tried to start it so they had to put a new one in for us. So I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem with the electrics that was causing the battery to go flat overnight. Anyway I left it for half an hour and went out to check it and it'd gone off so all good. But modding is something that I will get into I think, it's crazy, I'd never cared about driving before but now I've passed I'm obsessed with it. I want to look after the car as much as possible! So yeah that's something I think I'll get into too but I plan to do a lot more reading before attempting anything myself. Obviously got to bear in mind my insurance cost too being a new driver. But yeah info on the armrest would be great, thank you Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
leetomdocherty
Thanks for the welcome Lenny. yes will definitely have a look when I get home to my comp. anything that can reduce insurance is appreciated by me! I did start to learn when I was 17 but broke my arm and had to stop and then moved to Uni and living in a city didn't really need it. before I knew it I was 25 and a new parent not able to get around! So I thought I should probably crack on with it again. Best decision I've ever made :) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
