Car Key Fob

Sadly not that easy....

The immobiliser chip needs to be programmed and the chances you will find a flip key with the same print for your car is not likely, so I wouldn't hold out too much hope but give it a go by all means. :-)

Pretty easy buy the flip key it works on you're car get a mobile locksmith to programme and cut it or get them to supply code and cut scrap keys are a waste of time as said its not coded to you're car so it wont work also a lot of key shops don't have the cutter to do the ford key if he does then have him cut it and a Mobil programme it

I'll look at one on eBay and see if i can find a programmer around here i thought you can programme them yourself if you have the transmitter out of an old key, to get past the immobilizer.

(old key is not a remote fob)

Thanks

yeah if you have an old key and can remove the chip then you just swap the innards, but if your adding more keyys it needscoding...

Im in luck then as ive got two keys (non-remote control)

That means I can just get the key cut and match it up to the car..

You won't be able to programme the immobiliser key yourself.

For that you need someone with an IDS module and the chip in a flip key is a different type (carbon chip rather than the glass tube in the older keys)

Ford stopped the ability to self code transponders in about 2003-04 when the C-Max came out.

The central locking you can do yourself though.

so I cant just

1) Get a modded elm 327 with switch and activate the module in my gem

2) buy flip key of eBay

3) get the key cut to the code

4)put the transponder in the new flip key from my Manual key.

5) match the key up to the car by

putting the key into the ignition

turn 4 times

beep

lock button

beep

Pretty much. My key was modified to accept a glass chip in the flip key. Much cheaper than getting carbon coded

You can transfer a glass chip but would need to modify the location and stick the glass chip (coil end forward) in place with silicone or similar.

Another thing to bear in mind is if you dismantle the flip key cap there is a very fiddly spring that can easily get lost.

ELM FF2 on its default page is not english, there is an english translation out there which can be downloaded. ELM Config has the option of russian or english and is the best one IMHO for changing the car, Forscan is a great diagnstoics tool but not for making changes.

To activate the remote locking.

I have got on to the config and connected it up to the car fine

I'm just confused about what box to tick

  • Auto lock
  • Double locking
  • Driver door unlocking
  • Slam double locking
  • Slam central locking
  • Remote key-less entry

Thanks Joe

Autolock is when you want the doors to lock at 10mph,douvle locking enables the deadlock system, Driver door unlock is the anti hijack feature so you open only the drivers door on first click them the rest on second. Slam is a translation issue as civil-zz who wrote the app is Russian and his English is great but there are some words that show otherwise, so that's disable double locking and disable central locking. Remote keyless entry is if you have the keyless system installed.

Make sure slam central locking is unticked and you should be fine.
