CCDave
Numpty question here What are my options for a plug & play stereo upgrade to an MP3 head unit? I`ve got this at the mo Will this style go straight in? Looks the same shape but no doubt it`s different.
Stoney871
The first radio is a Ford Visteon radio. The second one is known as a gen 2 Sony. You need a gen 3 Sony radio- http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=171438248239&alt=web

Stoney871
Make sure any radio you buy is listed for a Focus, Fiesta, Fusion, Connect etc but not a Mondeo as some people have reported occasional compatability problems. Not seen it myself but always good to be cautious.
CCDave
Me again with another numpty question! Anyone fitted one of these head units? Are they simple enough to fit & find a home for the GPS aerial etc? Also what are the options for updating the sat nav software nowadays & what should i expect to pay for a decent used one? Thanks chaps.
troy45
Quite a few people have fitted that style of (usually) Chinese head units, myself included. There's a couple of really helpful threads on the subject if you search 'satnav' or similar. Most of the difficult work installing mine was due to also fitting a reversing camera (another very good guide from here) but the head unit itself went in pretty straight forward. Bit of messing to find room at the back of the unit with all the extra cables before I got the unit fitting flush, for the GPS antenna I initially mounted it on the top of the dash next to the lhs A-pillar but then tried putting it behind the A-pillar trim and that's worked great and hidden it away too. The seller for my unit sends out sat nav updates every 6 months or so, plus you can likely get these off the interweb too.
CCDave
Cheers for the reply troy45. Doesn`t sound like it`s too difficult to fit then apart from routing the antenna cable to the A-pillar No idea if the one i was looking at is a Chinese unit as the eBay advert is pretty vague. It`s been tempting me for a days now but lack of info on updating the sat nav software is putting me off & the seller doesn`t know! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161498815219?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Dee_82
they are all basically Chinese clones of one another, the only thing I would suggest is get a branded clone, one you can contact if you need support, I got mine from Eonon, had a wee bit of bother but they have been pretty good helping to sort it out. not sure id have the same confidance from random ebayers, eonon don't seem to support eBay sold eonon units, they only support units directly sold via them.
