I really don't get it at all, it's pretty much like UK having BNP as government. Can Scotland really be run by a Nationalist party, I don't think so and certainly not with the promises that Alex Salmond has made. Economically speaking, Scotland isn't as wealthy as most of the nationalists are being led to believe. A very high % is subsidised by the rest of the UK. Also Alex Salmond really isn't the best person to be running such a campaign, he's not yet been clear on how Scotland will move forward in terms of currency, what are his 3 plans B's as no one but him seems to know. Lets also put some facts into perspective on the whole matter, the facts that Alex Salmond say's is scaremongering.

Supermarkets: Logistics

Deliveries that are made to Scotland, are subsidised by the rest of the UK. The actual cost to deliver to Scotland, is spread out from the profits that are made within the UK on a whole (Many major chains have confirmed this) and to deliver to an independent Scotland, would mean the cost of logistics would go up. You can't expect to pay the same price as the rest of the UK, if they became independent. A prime example of this and a good example, is that of European countries such as Spain & France. If you wish to buy products that are widely available in this country, products that are classed as British then you pay more for them than you would here.

Now other products that come in from around the world, come to warehouses within England and not Scotland and so the cost to deliver them will go up also, as Scotland will have to pay import tax to the UK (something else that is currently subsidised on a whole by the UK).

Unemployed: Benefits

Benefits to Scotland, is currently provided by the DWP. What benefit system does Scotland have currently, the answer to that is non as it's subsidised by the whole UK. Independence would mean not only providing their own benefits system, but would also mean the money as currently provided by the UK disappears and would have to come directly from the Scottish tax payer, which would mean taxes go up.

Unemployed: Housing

I've had to laugh at Alex Salmond for this "FREE SOCIAL HOUSING", who's going to foot the bill for it if Alex Salmond sticks to his promise of free housing. Councils will loose money, which would mean jobs are lost because they have lost a big chunk of their revenue and taxes will go up.

Unemployed: Current Unemployment.

The current statistics for the unemployed in Scotland is 190,000 as of March this year, that's 6.9% of the national average (this includes the whole of the UK). Jobs are going to be lost, as confirmed by many companies who have offices in Scotland, they will be relocating to England. Just loosing RBS and TSB, will increase the unemployed by 27,000 and it will increase.

Immigration:

Alex Salmond has already said, he will welcome everyone who wishes to come to Scotland. But who's going to pay for it all, that's correct not the UK, but Scotland.

My examples are only a tiny portion of the problems that will be faced by the Scotts, Alex Salmond promises that tax won't go up and will go down. But if you loose things that are subsidised by another country, then the only way to keep things the way they are is to increase taxes. Scotland has no military, which it will need in order to be a member of the UN and Nato. As it stands, independence would mean Scotland is open to anyone for attack and they have no protection from it.

I'm all for independence, if the reason for independence are correct and factual. But as it stands, the whole referendum is an utter joke. School children for the last 30 years, have been filled with the hatred for the English and driven with nationalistic views (I know this as fact, as I have a family member who is a Scottish and a teacher). Nationalism has been drilled into many people in Scotland, it's almost like my original reference of BNP running the country.

I really hope, that the vote is NO. Because Scotland will never be truly independent if they wish to be part of the EU, swapping one union for a much worse union is just stupid.

Just been speaking to two guys from Glasgow.

They definitely don't want independence and don't know anyone who does.

The yes campaign is strongly targeting students and teens, how do they know if independence is right for them when they don't even know what politics are all about?

I hope it's a no, but to be honest I don't know much about it. If I was Scottish I would have spent a lot of time researching the pros and cons, but I worry that a lot of them aren't basing their votes on facts, well that's politics I guess.

I think many will vote from the heart and not the head.

I think Scotland will lose more than it gains if it goes independent.

The thing is, yes voters are vocal and try to encourage people regularly to vote yes. No voters are quiet and the silent majority ;) just from my experiences

Definitely agree Clive. There is so much to lose and this so called hidden wealth that politicians are talking about would be there if Scotland was apart of the UK or not.

They have brain washed the younger to believe this will fill their future with unlimited wealth, freedom and growth where in reality people will lose their jobs when companies move to England, unemployment will increase and so will cost of living. People homes will lose value whatever hard working folks have build over the years will be undervalued all for some power hungry politicians.

If they really wanted to make changes and not just gain unlimited power they would have accepted the power offered by Westminster and make demands of exactly how they want to run their own country without putting the Scottish people values and future at risk.

Fuel prices, tax, cost of living will all spike it will put the poor families over the limit as all the imported goods will cost more.

It will take years upon years before any real stability and growth can establish. There is no benefit to the people right now if Scotland was to become independent but... those power hungry leeches of so called politicians will get exactly what they want... power and that's all its about...

Let's face it, politicians are driven by power, none of them wake up to be a saint of the people, they all aim to be the ultimate ruler and controller.

Car insurance might even increase too, this is just another reason for insurance companies to charge more money and extra cost for cover to the UK or vice versa and that will have a serious impact on transport companies going to or from Scotland and England.

In return it will give the UK, specially England and economy boost, while companies moving to england and new jobs opening plus jobs created from the extra efforts required just dealing with Scotland, postal, shipping, customs checks etc, these things will be an unnecessary cost to Scotland.

I spoke to some of my Scottish friends who are within there younger 20's and they are all for independence, they don't have homes or serious life time investment nor can they say what will they personally gain out of it they just think it's good and that's exactly what the politicians want people to think.

The UK is fighting for Scotland to stay when they are the ones to lose out and that doesn't seem to click with some Scottish folks

I think the votes will follow the last local elections where a lot of people voted UKIP as a punishment to the main parties.

The UK is stronger together, if the vote goes to yes then many people will regret it in years to come.

I for one voted NO, there's no need to change and everyone that has been brainwashed by the SNP and the YES campaign will realise that if there is a yes vote and the country goes down the drain, I for one would possibly end up losing my job and have to move to England to keep it which is one of the reasons I'm voting no.

If it is a no... can another referendum happen again?

3 years sounds a bit too soon. Atleast peopl can get a chance if a no vote, to rethink there life and business rather than get dragged under with the boat for a future referendum

It can, and to my knowledge there would be nothing to legally stop it, however it is unlikely it would happen again in "our generation".

Don't get me wrong, I am a Yes voter (voted this morning in fact), but if we lose tomorrow then there would be no point in another referendum in the next few years as the result wouldn't change, in fact it would probably go further towards the No side.

There will be live coverage on the BBC and STV (I will be watching the latter) through the wee small hours if anybody wishes to watch it.
