I had a garage put my 2002 Focus TDDi on their computer to diagnose my airbag problem ....... he said I had an intermittent fault in my passenger side impact sensor so this morning I took out the seat to go look and there's no sensor there and the error is still flashing ....................it's getting very annoying now as I've made sure all the connections are made cleanly any how here's the link to my light

well I cannot post a link but it's flash pause 5 times then solid

Impact sensor is mounted on the pillar not under the seat

well I couldn't see the sensor anywhere near the pillar but I have just a rusty water trail going past the big loom junction box in the passenger wheel well ....so I've used some dielectric grease on the connections and nipped the bolt up and guess what ................no more light :D

An excellent Result have you checked the pollen filter housing? Might be the source of the leak

Normally if it's not flashing it's due to resistance. If you have a modified elm cable it's something you can diagnose yourself

The light flashes once then pauses then flashes once again and does this 5 times and on the 6th it says solid

Had you moved your passenger seat prior to the light coming on if so just try pushing the connector back into the housing under the seat every time iMovie my passenger seat this happens quick fiddle under the seat and it goes off an stays off till next time it's moved

well I started the car this morning at 5am to drive to work and the airbag light started bring a bit miffed I disconnected the battery at 8.35am and reconnected it at 11 still flashed at me ............so I started the car to drive home and the bleeding light stayed off that's been the pattern for the past two mornings ........I took this advantage to get the mot done :D failed on a loose bottom ball joint which I'd only replaced in april (getting it replaced under guarantee :)) so back tomorrow for me ticket ....I did the bottom arm as soon as I got back from the mot station and the local motor factors only took 45 minutes all in.

I had this initially. The heat was expanding the connections, broke them and set the light off, car cooled down, light went off,

well I've changed the clock spring for a brand new one and still getting the one flash cycle which suggests it maybe the airbag itself ............I was wondering if the earlier (pre 2001) airbag will fit the later (post 2001) steering wheel

Before going that far get some electric Contact cleaner. Just had my airbag issues and a healthy drowning of the pins and reconnect has stopped the error light appearing

Bit of an update ..... I used the contact cleaner on all the plugs with no joy so I left the car pointing towards the sun (I'm trying to get the car tanned) and guess what no light ...........so I started the car today and the light came on (the car was parked under a tree) so I thought bugger it and went for a drive with the heater on full heat and the vents pointed at the steering wheel during the drive the light stayed on so I popped into the shops to get my tea on returning to the car (which was still like a hotbox ) started the car light went on went off after 5 sec went off and didn't come back on so.................................is it the airbag ?

Nah I recon you have the same issue I did. The contacts on the wiring to airbag are industrial gold they can degrade making a bad connection on, on heat they expand and make a better connection.

My auto electrician had to pull the wiring out, shave off the connector and it's socket and I think he tinned the connector in essence and resolved it overall

you need to get the right one, one with small badge(ford), or one with big badge(ford) they are not swappable, you can't put big on small, different plugs and the steering wheel is different, it looks the same but its not.

Fixed it at last ..... stripped the airbag of it's wiring loom as i did'nt want static setting off the bag...... disassembled the main plug and slightly squeezed the 4 connectors put the loom back in and bingo no more light
