Airbag Light Wont Come On! Solve Or Crush?

hi, im fed up with this 2002 mk1 focus 1.6 16v

The airbag dash light didn't illuminate at start up, so I removed instrument panel to check bulb surprise someone had removed it! I tried a bulb and holder that I new worked but it will not light at start up.

I have had it on diagnostic software and it only throws up B2227 front impact sensor which I will replace if I can fix this dam light otherwise it will fail MOT.

I have checked continuity through the bulb holder and the printed circuit board only immediately around the bulb and seems fine.

The airbag light has never worked since I got it but I didn't realise when buying dispite it had mot 2 days earlier hmm that gotta be dodgy since brake hose nearly through due to rubbing and not even mentioned.

Any help on airbag light would be help full or any pointers?

otherwise I will have to hide my son in footwell with a torch during mot.

I just checked the wiring diagram and the airbag light is shown as an LED not a normal bulb like others in the instrument cluster.

It would explain why putting a good bulb in that position doesn't work.

Many thanks Dan for going to trouble of checking wiring diagram. much appreciated

so is this circuit a low voltage or amp then hense it wont power the normal bulb, think Im following you.

Don't suppose you know what type of led bulb and holder it is do you? My reg is PE52 YGJ if that helps.

Just had full service with timing belt water pump, full clutch, brake hoses, rear shoes, drums, bearing and wheel cylinders as as other little things and seems a shame to send it to can crusher but I cant justify putting £000's again with auto electrician for the airbag giving its age so fingers crossed I can fix it-might need your help along the way though :)

If you look at the top line of the wiring diagram, that's 12v and you can see by the airbag symbol there is a resistor which leads on to the airbag LED.

Sorry, I don't have any parts info.

WARNING:
To avoid accidental deployment, the air bag control module backup power supply must be depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before commencing any repair or adjustment to the supplement restraint system (SRS), or any component(s) adjacent to the SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
DTC is comms error for front crash sensor so hopefully it will just be a bad connector, if you want any more info PM me your email address and I can send you the Diagnostic and Testing procedure.

Many thanks for pointing out its a led bulb, i thought it was a wedge bulb. i was looking at a diffrent icon above that has picture of a airbag too

But i decided to strip cluster down to find some tight bugga had pushed bluetack all over led. instead of buying front crash sensor

i should of know they had also disconnected compressor from aircon because a £3 switch had gone!

getting sensor then we should be error free

thanks again
