Hi, has anyone changed the bulbs in the rear light units to LED type bulbs?

If so which ones did you use and the best place to get good quality ones from would be appreciated.

Ben

I changed all my tail bulbs with the exception of the indicators. I think most of them were bought from eBay but I can't remember who the sellers were.

I went with cree bulbs for the reverse and fog, which are bright but are very directional so can't be seen that well from the side.

The tail/brake was a general led with loads of mini led light on it.

The high level brake bulbs were bought from jpwarden.

I know the usual advise is to by from decent shops in the uk, but in alot of cases they turn out to be cheap chinese bulbs with inflated prices.

  • 3 weeks later...

Remember the estate is different from the hatch

i did a(n almost) total LED conversion in / out, the brake lights stayed on due to lack of load - i had to leave one of the bulbs as a regular bulb to get them to go out - this eventually became blown and the brake lights stayed on, i then soldered a load resistor into the circut

The estate has fog/ tail lights (in one bulb) instead of the regular stop/ tail bulbs, i could not find fog/ tail LEDs so modified stop/tail bulbs instead

I just used the cheapest LED Bulbs i could find off eBay - as Steve has said, at least im not paying over the odds for the same thing

I bought loads of different ones and have a lot left over

All the exterior bulbs are now LEDs, apart from the indicators (the fronts are de-tangoed chrome- orange) and the headlights - it was a fair bit of hassle sorting it all/ finding the right ones - it was worth it in the long run
