gazza1701-a
Hello, I've a problem with my TD 1.8 1999 Mondeo, it just stopped for no reason and without warning, its been to a diesel specialist and all they said its the pump thats the problem but they need to look at it off the car to see if it can be repaired, as they want charge 2 hours @ £50 an hour just to get it off, and perhaps tell me that the car may as well be scraped because of the costs involved , i thought i may have go at removing the pump myself then getting the specialist to check it. so my Q is how hard is it to remove the pump from the car? its a lucas pump be the way. many thanks for taking the time to read this. mintalkin
before removing the pump did the garage check the relays to the pump as these can give problems, also the mk2 had some immboliser problems so try a spare key fob if you have one. Hi I would have to say that they checked the relays as the garge i took it to are well clued up on mondeos, they told me either the shaft inside the pump has broken or the immobiliser shut off thing inside is the prob. any which way , its got to come off the car!
