JoeZS19
Hey, Got the 1.0 zetec s at the moment which i think is a great car. However I've always liked the st and found I can get a great deal on a new st through work. Just wondered what the pros and cons of the st are? And what mpg are people roughly getting? Thanks in advance Joe
MarksST
It depends how you drive, we have a mix of roads, misses drives quite carefully, I drive it like it's designed to be and even with the Mountune upgrade our trip computer usually shows 37-40mpg. Can't think of any cons for me.
GrahamJC
I would totally agree with Mark. Just Google Fiesta ST3 reviews and I do not think you will find any negative ones. If you can afford it - buy one.

dmizz93
I've just got mine and I've racked up 2k in 5/6 weeks, can you tell I like it? First 1000 miles i averaged 36 but as the car is running in I thought that was pretty reasonable! Getting like 39 at the minute with same type of driving.. I don't tend to hold back with the right foot either :) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

Aha 36-39 mpg sounds really decent to me to be fair, id be happy with that
Barryh1988
Do it, I've just picked my ST3 yesterday and can't stop jumping in to go for a drive. Trip says I'm adveraging 38mpg but that's as I'm taking it easy for a steady break in. And dealer matched the price I got offered from EMC forces cars which was fantastic. MattDRX
I still get 44MPG at an average speed of 35MPH, quite like it, but like all Fiestas it's now rattling away with the stereo on, had tons of problems with it, new Turbo, CAT, one caliper, ABS unit and pretty soon to be a gearbox I reckon, have done 17K in it since March so it's quite an easy motor to live with. Depends on costs tbh, I don't really care about that, but if you're doing a private lease for £179PM you won't get better, if buying direct from Fraud don't bother IMO, Mazda now have 0 deposit and 0% APR, can get the new MPS model for the same cost as a Ford lease over 3 years and it's as quick as a Focus RS for around £200PM, costs a fortune to run and tax is £500PA but it's a monster of a car for next to nothing money, decent offer tbh. PUG have some good deals on the 208GTI too at the moment. Still can't be ST seats though.

Yeah there is other options but the st is the car I like and still has decent running costs. Not really a fan of the 208 gti to be honest
MattDRX
Mine is probably the highest mileage ST in the UK though, it's on 23K already, don't really look after it though tbh, not whilst Fraud can fix it for free anyway, cane it about from start to stop, seems to enjoy it most of the time, it's not great in the wet though, all this grip and track perfection, be warned in the rain it can wheelspin in 3rd gear and develops a minor "snap oversteer" Still very good running costs, under £40PM to insure and tax is nothing on it, what £130PA now? What deal are you getting the ST for though? is the Gateway2lease one?
MarksST
I know of a couple of higher mileage STs, mines likely to get quite higher 3200 since sept 1st but, that's what it's for. Surely you only get wheel spin in the wet and snap oversteer if you not driving to the conditions. The cars not going to do it itself, do you drive everywhere In all conditions in the same manner? To be fair after having mine for 2k I've experienced the Stereo rattle... Sometimes the turbo doesn't seem to pick up as quick as id like it and seems to make a rough noise sometimes in 3rd gear? Can't decide if it's the dump valve but sounds like a bit of resistance as i put in to third and put my foot down, difficult to describe :/

I walk to work and don't rack up many miles thats why i got shot of my diesel. Only really drive it to town and the cinema but there enjoyable country roads so smiles every time. Just clocked onto 140 miles
Philf1
9500 miles no problems except a squeaking brake sometimes and starting to get a rattle from the B pillar but will get them both sorted at the first service so I don't have to be without the car for more than one day. Just buy it you will not be disappointed.

GlynnZS
The suspension is pretty hard so I'm not surprised they develop rattles. Ive done about 1500 miles and average low 30's mpg with a bluefin remap, but I'm addicted to the acceleration and noise, any opportunity is taken. I've done a couple of 100mile cruise control trips on motorway set at 77mph and get 42mpg for the motorway parts. Was getting 42mpg average in the 1.0 with similar driving. Like Matt says, i find the traction in the wet shocking, just cant put the power down at all in 1st and 2nd. Really needs an LSD, the 'brake the inside wheel' system is pants in my opinion. MarksST
I find the suspension is fine for a hot hatch and the handling it has, it certainly not the headrest riding car I've had. I average 38-42mpg with the mp215 while enjoying the performance on various roads. Grip and handling in the wet I find pretty good, mainly because I drive to the conditions and not just drive how I would in the dry, then blame the tyres and lack of a LSD for my lack of throttle control.
JoeZS19
Mid 30's to 40 mpg sounds perfect to be fair. Really looking forward to hopefully getting one :)
