Fiesta Mk6 Headlight Hid Retrofit

This is my first post actually explaining one of my mods and it's probably going to be my biggest mod yet.

I'm going on a trip to the local scrappy tomorrow to collect front & rear lights from a 5 door fiesta mk6 Facelift.

I've got some Projector units already

My plan is to fit the facelift headlights with the projectors and then install H1 5k HIDs (I already have h4 6k HIDs in the factory mk6 headlights).

Whilst I've got the headlights open I'm going to Detango and fit some silvervision bulbs!

After the headlights are done, I'll be fitting the rear lights and rewiring them!

This WILL be photo heavy :)

3 hours later in the cold, dark British weather and the rear lights are fitted and wired in! Pictures to follow! :)

What projectors did you use? And how did you fot them? Just measure the diamiter an make the cut an clicks in? Or you got to glue them?

I used eBay 151349891904 . I offered £25 but ended up paying £25 including postage. They arrived well packaged within 10 days.

I was honestly surprised at the quality of the units when they arrived. There's no plastic other than the shroud which is still rather solid. The shroud attaches with screw (not included, I used some PC Motherboard screws I had lying around from previous builds.

To install, you simply open up the headlight (I used a heatgun to soften the seal) and I opened it using a screwdriver.

Once inside; remove the stock reflector that's held one from behind with 1 screw. That screw also holds the original bulb holder in place.

You then assemble the projector (attach the shroud), pass the cable for the solenoid through the slit at the back of the headlight and then pass then threaded part of the projector unit through the hole (fits with loads of room, but the projector comes with a silicon spacer to fit any size hole.)

You then place the adapter onto the back (either h4 or h7) and then tighten the locknut on top of it.

The bulb holder screws onto the back of the locknut. You can then reseal your headlight.

As for fitting the bulb.. That's the same as fitting a normal HID Kit. But, you WILL need a hi/LO ballast to connect to the solenoid along with a h1 bulb

Just to add, after the headlights have been detangoed, you will need either orange 382 bulbs (making the whole thing pointless) or silvervision or similar 382 bulbs.

Unfortunately, the bulbs I ordered which should have fit didn't fit, so I have put them in the rear lights and I have had to get some amber 381 bulbs and grind off one of the pins with a Dremel so I actually have front indicators

Wow thank you for the detailed response. Nice change to have some in depth inscructions :).

Im using osram nightbreakrs at the moment an there the birghtest bulbs ive used so far. But havnt fitted hids as theres no projector in the lamps. Going to pick some second hand light up from work and have a play an see what happens. Thanks again!

The light output compared to reflectors is amazing. I'll post an image of my lights once I've had them aligned tomorrow :)

Just a warning to anybody that buys these projectors.. The h4 adapters do not align the projectors correctly, they are quite badly out of alignment

You have no headlight washer so will fail mot ? Are they self leveling ?

Swapping them out for my old headlights for MOT, beam pattern has been checked and it's absolutely spot on, aligned perfectly so won't be dazzling anybody.

MOT guidelines say that if washers are fitted they MUST work, nowhere does it say that HIDs must be accompanied by washers. Source - 2 local MOT testers & one council MOT tester.

As for self levelling no they don't have it. They can be adjusted from inside the car manually but have no self levelling

I'm a mot tester for a couple of years.

I wouldn't fail the car on washers because your car was built before 2010. But self leveling projectors aren't the same as height adjustment. In the cab.

I didn't realise I was dependent on the age of the car?

I know self levelling isn't the same as as height adjustment, I just meant that's the only adjustment they have other then the alignment on the actual headlights :)

Only fail an mot if it's hid lights u fitted with no washers. Projector lights with normal bulbs are fine.

I think there h1 hid ? Won't fail cause he's car wasn't made after 2010. Plus I think he's model fiesta had hids but retro fitted those in replace ?
