Charles Edward
Hi, Apologies if this is the wrong place, I'm new here. We bought a two year old fiesta that is in very good condition and we've had it for about two months now. In the last two days though we have discovered from the moment the car is turned on the engine fan is very loud, even when we have no fan set to be on from the dials and buttons inside the car. Does anyone know why this might be happening? The only light which seems unusual is an image of the petrol tank with a left-pointing arrow just to the right of it. We already have a printed image on the dashboard of the petrol tank with a triangle on the left to indicate which side the petrol tank cap is on. I think the new light image is to show expected miles given how much petrol is in the tank, but I could be very wrong. Does anyone know how we can stop the fan from coming on, and why it is coming on the first place? I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks
AdeMk1
Usually points to a faulty engine temp sensor or fan resistor pack. The ECU will be detecting unusual or no engine temp readings so its triggered a failsafe to keep the fans on all the time just in case the engine is overheating. Charles Edward
That actually makes a lot of sense. A bit of a shame that we have the car less than three months and it has a problem already, but that sounds like a pretty reasonable explanation. We'll get it looked at. Thank you very much, I really appreciate this.
