False floor is basically done.. Now I'm just waiting for my 90* RCA connectors & some rubber grommets for the other cables. Also ordered an assortment of different connectors so I can unplug the amp from the car and remove the floor quick.

Here are a couple of quick out of focus images of the amp just sat at an angle on the false floor

Looking good mate the 90 degree plugs will be a nice addition,

Is that a JL AUDIO 10W0V3-4 Sub?

Fast plug connectors are the business too nice easy and quick release of equipment.

Sub is a JL Audio 10WXV2-4 . I've got a 10W3V3-4 in a box not being used though.

As for plugs, i'm going to use either a powercon socket for the power. Then i'm Probably going to use a speakON cable for the sub wires. As for the signal wire i'll use a bullet connector :)

Postman brought me my 90* RCA adapters today. For £1.50 each the quality is... Ok... They just feel very cheap.

post-57403-141580863541_thumb.jpg

He also brought me my connector for my speaker wire for when it comes to unplugging things. Also got a vibe fast plug on order.

Just need to firmly mount my amp to the floor then I can start cable management!

Also on the search for some more door Speakers, edging towards focal as I've had a lot of experienced club members recommending them! I'm probably going to go with a new JL Audio amp although I'm nt sure wether I'll use it to power the sub (will be a monoblock amp if I do) or if in going to leave the blaupunkt powering the sub and use the JL Audio to power the other Speakers

For sale, JL audio 10W3V2 300w RMS Subwoofer. I bought it used a few weeks ago & have tested it working but decided to go for the less powerful model.

Unlike the newer subwoofers, this one was made in the USA and is a quality piece. There are a few age related marks here & there but nothing that affects the operation of the sub.

Looking for £55 + delivery or buyer can collect

Very Nice sub,

Id just like to help promote this sale by informing:

This particular sub is the biggest sized 10" sub that will fut snugly inside the depth of the 10" custom sub enclosure that's available on eBay for the mk2 and mk2.5 focus,

IMAG1894_zpsqvxfrddi.jpg

There's also a grill available for this model which clips in to the sub resulting in no need to drill holes see link:

Also a good matching amp see link:

  • 2 weeks later...

Quick update; the build in the boot atleast is basically finished! I've just got to build a little cover for the wiring loom and it's done. Next on the list of things will be a JL Audio Monoblock amp, and some Focal PS165F in the front doors which I will power using the blaupunkt amp :). Along with all that will be a new headunit.

I'll be sleeving all of the cables early next year when I've got the patience to redo the loom. I'll be running the power together, and sleeving the audio separately, I'm not in a rush as there's no horrible hums or interference as is

Here are a few pictures of the almost finished boot!

Loving the install. Very clean and retaining most of the boot space. I like how you managed to show off the amplifier while making clean wiring parts. Best bit for me is the LED strip. I might have to do that to mine as well. It's understated and functional. Great idea.

Lastly, you made that amp look so much better in your install than when I had it. Nicely done Kieran :)

Nice upgrade with the led strip lighting,

And those 90 degree RCA elbows really tidy things up square might go for those myself looks much cleaner mate.

Thanks Hassen! If I'm honest I preferred the way you mounted the amp! But I stupidly built the box and cut the hole out before I bought the amp! So it doesn't fit.

I also built the false floor primarily to hold the sub box in place, I didn't even think to hide the amp under there! That's probably what I would do If I did another boot build! :)

As for the LED strip, it makes searching the boot for the smallest things so much easier! I've also fitted a second boot light (got the idea from Lenny) which I stole from a renault laguna estate! I've got the interior lights to install at some point too!

I can send you a link to the LEDs I bought if you'd like? As I got about 5 strips dirt cheap!

I'll be honest... I've mounted the amp back to front without even noticing! So I'm probably going to take the top of it off and turn the top around

Hats of to you for the cleanliness of the inside of the amp! Your car must be spotless!

+1 I've been inside it and it is indeed spotless.

I think I'm going to get two more of the 90* RCA connectors so I can basically hide the actual cable inside the side if the amp :) http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=301102174139

Sounds good mate pardon the pun

Thanks for sharing the link too.

Nice one mate,

I highly recommend fitting some DEI boom Matt cups to them prior to fitting speakers: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/301308874480?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Ah, that amp as you can tell was well loved and looked after. I am still disappointed that I had to sell it :P As I always thought of putting it in my wife's car when I did get the funds to upgrade her sound system. Then again, she probably wouldn't appreciate it as much as you would :P

Forgot to say, excellent choice with the Focal Speakers mate. I am dying to hear what you think of them as they are the new Flax cone ones and are supposed to have a superior sound. Even better than the ones I have as mine are older. Reckon with that sub and amp, it's going to be a quality system.

You still thinking of using sound deadening around the car?

Thanks for the link for the 90 degree RCA adapter. I will have to get some for my car as well as they are very neat and tidy.

Oh and the link to the LED strip. That will definitely come in handy as the one pad of LEDs is not enough at the moment to illuminate the whole boot. Where does the LED strip get the power from?

Lenny, you are too kind. I try my bed to keep it clean. Hard at times with a 3 year old boy :P

The boom mats sound like a good idea! Not too bad of a price either!

As for fitting the focal Speakers, I've been looking around online. I'm going to run the cable between the door like you have Hassen but I'm going to use some protective corrugated tubing and rubber grommets just to try make it look a little more OEM. It's going to be one of those things that arrives and I'm frightened to take it out the box incase I damage them! Haha

I'm still planning on sound deadening too! But that'll be something I order and install bit by bit whilst I rip the car to bits installing the Speakers & amp.. If I tried to do it all at once I'd get arsey and start pulling things apart without unscrewing it etc! Haha

Hassen I've simply run another cable from the boot light for the LED strip and the second boot light , and I've swapped the actual boot light for a 501 LED

As for the LED link, I'll have to find it later when I'm on the PC as I bought them a while back and the eBay app won't show me them.

Its a credto you keeping it in showroom condition mate,

I dont let my lot eat in the car although it says it on the rear window  vicki ruins it though and lets them do whatever

Spilt a bottle of club orange on front passenger seat today caused ripples of the rock pools off the coast of conamara ;) when i discovered the spill

+1 for the Boom mats. Definitely worth the money just to protect the Speakers from water and like you said, they are pricey and prone to not like water.

I second your idea in doing the work in parts. I did the same and at every stage, you get the reward of feeling the difference from the previous step. e.g change the stock Speakers to the Focal ones, then adding the sound deadening.

No rush on the link. Anything car related is taking a back seat till at least July next year. The LED is a great idea though.

I try my best but like yourself, I have now a nasty liquid stain on my front passenger seat made by a bottle of juice. I shall not name the culprit :P

My little one knows not to make a mess in the car as he like the Focus I think as much as I do. The other day he goes to me while driving "Dada", pause, "I like your Focus sometimes" Little messer :P

I hope you get your club orange disaster sorted. Any ideas on how to remove the stain from my front seat? I was thinking hot soapy water with Fairy Liquid and a soft sponge.

Christmas seems to be putting everyone's projects on hold! :(

I'll be honest.. I've been put off cleaning my car... I deep clean everything as often as I can but the little bits I'm just so unmotivated... The previous owner has left a very... Herbal smell in the car which I cannot shift. I've gone through several bottles of febreze, it's had a new odour filter but I just can't shift the smell! As soon as I can shift the smell then I'll spend just as much time cleaning as I do driving!

Applying water only spreads out to become a bigger map stain mate,

Id live with it for a bit,

Then some dry day rent out a Rug Doctor give the interior a good going over:

See my guide: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/47749-rug-doctor-review-cleanng-car-interior/

Vicki doesn't know it yet but she will be renting it out of next months Children's Allowance

Ive got the last three updates of 2014 coming tomorrow and Monday,

Cant sleep with excitement one of tomorrow's updates is -32°C straight from North pole :) I've really been a good boy and treated myself quite generously this Christmas season.

Ill resume progress then in January,

I may purchase some kit from Dave at AutoStar electronics next month but thats all just some piggy back fuse adaptors, cables and tape nothing sexy
