Everybody needs a Lenny!! Finds a positive in everything! :)

Think I'm going to have to order one of those voltage gauges you posted a link to! Even if I just hide it on top of the fuse box, it'll still be good to be able to check every couple of days! Means I can see how much my amps are abusing the alternator too! Haha

I'm going to use some 6mm MDF as I've got lots of off cuts that are about the right size! I'll just use the plastic guides as motivation. I'm going to print the picture of the bad fit ^ and look at it if I get sick of cutting MDF up! :)

It's good to hear that the lack of access isn't going to make a big difference to the sound! I'm going to pack the doors as much as I possibly can! If the door cards go back on easily then I haven't used enough!

Also, I had some insulation fitted in the roof as a present from the government! And the installers accidentally left behind a full roll do silver foil tape! So I've been using the tape on my install to seal up any little gaps! The car's going to be like a silent oven as I haven't got AC ;)

I'm going to make up the mounting brackets etc on Thursday as I have work from 4pm tomorrow.

Tomorrow morning I'll hopefully be installing my 12.5mm axle spacers that I've had since I bought the car, weather permitting! :)

Thanks! & I love it! Well worth the price... BLACK FRIDAY IS THE BOMB.

Now I'm actually starting to understand how to use it (I'm too stubborn to read the instructions) it keeps getting better & better

Is he any relation to Robert Miles?

Other good tracks to notice the tweters and sub are:

Tiestö - 10 seconds before sunrise

And

Tiestö Feat. Diplo - Come on

No relation to Robert Miles. Miles Davis was a great jazz musician. Check out Kinda Blue the album. It's deeply rooted in blues and has no lyrics, just music. Listen to an open mind and enjoy :)

Also, keep ya head up mate. The best bit of all this is that you get double the amount of Silent Coat. If you have the car already off the road and stripped, consider putting some Silent Coat on the floor of the car. Realistically, you need about 20-30% coverage to reduce vibrations around the car. Just bear in mind that Silent Coat is a vibration damper and not a sound insulator. For that you would need MLV and CCF coupled together and it gets expensive very quickly for the gains you get. I did the same to my inner door skins as you as I couldn't be asked to remove it to fit the Silent Coat. I reached through the hole of the Speakers as far as I could and doubled up the Silent Coat 2mm so that it had 2 big blocks on the door skins. Did the job and the door closes with a nice thud upfront. In the rears, I only did the exposed door skin and even that was about 20% coverage. It was fine as I don't really use my rear Speakers.

Also, if any Silent Coat is left, consider putting some under the bonner as reduces the vibrations coming from the engine. Maybe on the inner firewall too if there is any left over. Good luck with it as it's a bit of a pain to get done :)

I didn't realise how heavy the silentcoat is! Even just with the coverage I've done on the passenger door so far, it makes a good solid thud once closer.. Although as I've got no door handle I have to close it with my hand through the speaker hole! Haha, sharp sharp sharp ouch

I'm going to get the silentcoat in every nuck & cranny I can! Even if it means ordering another batch of it. The boot & under the rear seats will be getting a layer or too, although I'll probably buy big sheets of it via the link Lenny shared on his thread. At the moment I've got a roll 5m x 10cm and another coming as I couldn't afford any more and I wanted to get the doors done

I'm sure once this is all finished I'll be over the moon! But at the minute i just keep thinking "it'll be fine" "leave the stock speakers" "stop messing with things" haha

Didn't realise my link was different to others.

The weight wont be noticed when driving as its evenly distributed throughout the body aswell.

Will be 100% when all fitted,

I almost blew the stock Speakers in the focus coming to work last nite,

Had Equaliser set to "powerful" and volume 12 streaming YouTube from phone via bluetooth

They all began to crackle like a Geiger counter.

the door closes with a nice thud upfront.

+1 I've been in Hassan's focus and you really notice the premium quality feel when getting in and closing the door,

No bean tin echo just a "tump" and the audio is fantastic tightest base system I've heard on the road.

Your link was to a much better value amazon page :)

Have the Speakers made a recovery? Haha! Have you installed your sub yet? I remember you installed the enclosure to test fit and made the mounting hardware for the amp but I can't remember wether you actually got it installed?

My doors currently sound more like a tuna can... Not quite a baked bean can, yet not quite a Heinz bottle hitting the floor (a plastic one... Full..)

Today I got my rear axle spacers fitted! They have completely transformed the rear of the car! I didn't take any pictures during as I was rushing to get it finished before I start work (now). I'll take some pictures on Thursday, as I cleaned all the corrosion off the brake drums and gave the brakes a quick service whilst I had the hub off. I'm going to paint the drum satin black on Thursday too!

Also, the Focal's still haven't arrived :(

I had a box the same size & shape arrive today... And it was rather heavy! I got all excited and tore it open, to fine the present I've ordered my mum for Christmas inside :(

ya know; sometimes i even surprise myself

Yeah there still alright  i quickly turned it down after i stopped laughing as i realised id be without sound again if i blew them just yet,

Can't believe they don't even handle level 15 on a 50w x 4 headunit

I may do an Italian Job on the fronts when upgrading in May, hook them up to the JL amp pause a track encountering a heavy base, turn it up to 50 :) blow them out of the doors

I've not fitted the sub or amp yet, I've got some work and purchasing to do,

Need to wait until i have the 4 CH amp before i can carpet the panel, also need to purchase some items i wont be installing Speakers or sub until May after the sound proofing goes in,

Only completed upgrades fitted to date is the headunit and reverse camera.

look forward to some pictures, the rear spacers will help reduce the turning radius on the front wheels meaning i5 corners sharper, i recommend having your wheels laser aligned in the next six months to correct camber after spacing prevent excessive tyre wear on inside.

Marble Chopping board is the only thing i can think that would resemble size and weight of the package,

Did you purchase the Focal from RadioWorld by any chance?

They forgot to send my sub enclosure until i raised an eBay claim, then they performed a stock count on the item and realised ow we forgot to ship it...

Terrible to see a company lacking in performance in a department which they allegedly "specialise" its like Royal Mail not delivering post?

Why bother coming to work if you cant do the only thing your job entails.

And it's a terrible Customer service strategy when the "customer himself" provides you with the idea to check the level of physical stock on that particular item compared to the stock figure showing on the system.

If one extra is in physical stock that proves you didn't send it

I paid them for the item, all they gotta do is ship it simples, i don't understand business that can't do business.

At work so a quick reply;

I'm going to lower the car slightly in January so I'll have the wheels aligned then! I've got some low profile tyres for summer and I want them to be worn out by aggressive driving.. Not by slow, camberous (new word) driving! Aha

I did get my Focal's from them!! They're useless! I emailed them a week after ordering saying they wkd be dispatched that day or the next! Not happy :( . It was the best price on eBay though I suppose.. Every penny counts!

Your car is going to be ridiculously silent on the motorway! Unless you're ordering a performance exhaust with the Christmas shopping so Vicki doesn't notice? How much silent coat are you ordering?

Fiesta will look great and handle very well lowered,

RadioWorld were 25 pounds cheaper than anywhere else for the focus custom sub enclosure aswell, they do follow through with the order eventually

 already fitted a 2.5" cat back piper duplex exhaust around two years ago :) does get a bit noisy when there's a cross wind on the motorway the pipes whistle lol

I've spoken with Vicki a few weeks ago and got approval to spend half my Christmas bonus (250GBP) on the car this month so I've got a few items on route all to be told on 24th ill post a combined update on my build thread.

Starting with two packs of the silent coat,

Ill do under the seats and perhaps the roof area first,

Definitely doing the doors last because if i run out i can easily remove door cards and continue,

Would be a nightmare to run short when doing under the seats or something.

It's going to be my little pocket rocket (don't be dirty!!). Summer 2015 I'm using up a week of my holidays just to go driving around the UK & maybe Scotland! Should be an interesting, fuel consuming trip!

I'm kind of glad the Focal's haven't arrived yet.. As it's motivated me to get the axle spacers done! Just a little bit of advice when it comes to fitting them; allow lots of time, allow lots of room around you (for those sneaky swears that slip out when you realise the bolts in the kit are too long and your ABS ring is rubbing). Check that your hub is secured back onto the axle securely! Otherwise your wheels will gradually grow further and further apart until.. Well, until your car looks like it's on bags...

Have you got a picture of the exhaust? Your car's soon to be the best sounding in Ireland! Both engine & ICE. You'll have to fight for the title with Hassen though!

You're going all out on the silent coat! You'll have to post a Picture of the interior just with silentcoat before you put the trim back in! It'll be like a spaceship!

They look great, bet you can't wait to fit them now :)

When i said few bags of sugar i was referring to a method used by scam artists to trick people in to thinking the actual item is inside,

RadioWorld would be possible

Popular scam around Christmas aswell,

Pop up tents offering to wrap your gifts for charity

They take out contents and fill with a bag of sugar,

You don't know until Christmas day,

They're so beautifully made that I don't want to HIde them in the door :( I want to put them in a display case

I've dragged In a friend to help me finish as much as possible tomorrow! (Cheating I know... But Lenny & Hassen have got kids to help them :( )

Ooh right! You can tell ive had no sleep! I've seen that on the real hustle when it used to be on tv, filling boxes with rocks& bubble wrap and all kinds of crap! If I ever received a gift full of that stuff I'd simply cry... I get so giddy when I've got parcels to open! (What has my life come to?!)

your crazy bro!!

I can only speak for myself on this matter as i don't know others situation but i don't allow my kids assist me in modifications as they have there own rights to be kids aswell as there own personal interests,

However there's no rules to working on the car if you can get someone whom you trust enough to help you then go for it,

Had to have a good read through the previous posts. Great to hear you got the items and I know what you mean about the Focals. They are exquisitely made and I was tempted myself to leave them uncovered so that they could be seen. The flax material used on them is really cool on yours. Mine are yellow and made from Kevlar (material used for bullet proof jackets. Go figure). Also, how are the spacers looking? When you are done with the sound install, you will be grinning everytime you put the stereo on :P

As for the battle between me and Lenny's system in Ireland, I reckon Lenny has be beaten with his plan as I didn't strip the car yet to install the sound deadening on the floor. Lenny's car will be quieter for sure. Also, while doing research on the topic, 3M make a material that's used for sound insulation. It's white and looks like the stuff you have in the lining of jackets. It's supposed to reduce the ambient noise coming from the road and surroundings. I have a link saved somewhere if anyone is interested. This could be used to line the doors after the sound deadening has been applied, mostly to the door cards. Also, it might be used in the trunk and roof of the car. If you are thinking of making more sound improvements, do consider a Mass Loaded Vinyl and Closed Cell Foam layer on the floor of the car. The one I know if, but have no personal experience with is called Dodo Mat

I plan myself at some point late next year to line the floor of the car with Silent Coat and the Dodo Mat. That will be the end of my sound install then. There is plenty of articles online to support the use of the above.

So today I got the speaker installed In the front passenger door and the door card put back on, I didn't take any pictures as I had dropped my phone behind the radio and wasn't in the mood to dig it out... I just used the radio to answer my calls instead! Haha. I also ran the power cable for the amp, meaning all I have to do now is mount it.

I'm going back up to the garage soon to do the drivers door, I have already sorted out the wiring, silentcoat & a hole for the tweeter. All I need to do when I go back up is adapt the speaker mount & then install everything! I'll take pictures this time!

Here is a picture of the silentcoat on the door card

post-57403-141771700657_thumb.jpg

I've gotta say, even just the one door connected to the head unit sounds amazing!!!

I didn't realise we were competing against each other and this was a competition  i thought we were all enthusiast sharing the dreams.

Thanks for the link to the soundproof shop mate,

Im steering away from Silent Coat, i reckon some foam on roof, boot and floor, then blue foil dynamat on the doors and boot door would perhaps be a bit lighter.

I've gotta find out the size of Torx required to remove the seats.
