I'm currently just running them off the headunit. I'll fit the amp & the sub amp at the same time, early January :)

They look ace! I like how your door had already some sound deadening in it already (black parts). Running them off the headunit is good but wait till you give them enough power from an amp to get the real quality behind them.

I have one suggestion for the above setup. Just my 2cents and please tell me to shoo if you differ in opinion :)

Currently, you have the tweeters mounted down below in the door card. Was that the original factory point for the tweeters or did you make a hole there to fit the new Focal tweeters?

Higher frequencies from my little bit of research is more directional than lower frequencies. Most car setups would have the tweeters mounted higher up so that they are pointing at your ear level. For e.g tweeters in my car are mounted in the sail panel in the door at the level of the wing mirrors. That was the stock position. That way they deliver the frequencies towards your ears more efficiently. Mounting them at the level of say your knees might not have the same impact. Consider an option to mount them in the sail panels if possible. I think that way you would get the most out of the component Speakers.

Just a thought :)

I can't wait to amp them! My ears deserve a treat!

As for the tweeters, I was going to mount them elsewhere but I simply couldn't find anywhere to mount them! :( as the fiesta mk6 doesn't have factory Tweeters

They still sound good where they are though as they're angled slightly with the actual door card grill, so that the passenger is hit in the chest by the drivers tweeter (no innuendo intended) and vice versa

I ripped loads of the plastics out searching for an alternate place to mount them as I didn't really want to cut the door card up if I could avoid it

Anyway, my parts that are being hydro dipped are almost done! Here's a teaser;

Id have drilled the door card and mounted the tweeter behind the door handle if it wasn't obstructing anything inside,

But they look tidy where they are and im sure they sound great,

The hydro dipping looks truly awesome mate #OffDaChainBro

Top respect having a video of your parts being processed.

Here's a good DubStep remix i found on YouTube sounds pretty good on car audio:

There were two holes behind the door card that were blanked off, originally I planned to mount them there but as I started to widen the hole I was able to see that the window would catch the rear of the tweeter :(

I'm so excited to get my parts back from Manchester! I'll post some pictures up when they're back & on the car! :)

That sounds great through my surround sound.. Will try in the car when I get a day off work :)

Id completely remove the windows from the doors,

That would solve the problem and save you putting them down each time you get in to the car :)

Looking forward to seeing those parts fitted mate will look truly fantastic.

When you have the system fully installed; if you would like a loan of the pioneer CD-MC20 self calibrating microphone

IMG_20141122_083006_zpsamnblvpc.jpg

i can ship it over with a return self addressed envelope, calibration settings will hold until battery is disconnected again,

Then it will need self calibrating again,

You may need to use a phono extension to plug it in to back of your headunit,

So pioneer say anyways but you can use your existing aux extension loom to bridge th3 mic to headrest

then pvc tape it to headrest,

IMG_20141205_105124_zpsdfszs9lq.jpg

Press "start"

And get out Shnell!!

For three minutes the system tunes itself to best suit the setup in your car.

That hydrodipping looks so cool! I saw it first on an episode of Wheeler Dealers and it looked ace for the Range Rover they were doing. You might have the first Fiesta with hydrodipped console there Kieran :)

Ah thanks for the offer Lenny! How much would postage be?

I've ordered a 3.5mm extension as my headunit has a seperate input for the calibration mic. I'm going to mount near the OBDS port

Removing the windows... Hmm.... Because racecar?

The parts are being collected by TNT on Wednesday for delivery on Thursday, so excited!

Update; my 8 way plug arrived for my Speakers post-57403-141789917486_thumb.jpg

Nice plug,

Word of advice: fit the male plug to the cables feeding from the audio souce

And the female with exposed pins on the speaker side,

This eliminates risk of shorting between pins when disconnected.

And ill post it over for free,

Self addressed return envelope to a uk address so it wont const you more than 6 pounds

Or there 30 pounds to purchase,

Ill need it back for sound upgrade though.

Not something required every day unless battery was disconnected quite useful then,

And yes  because race car

I taught myself that lesson at work! SPARKY SPARKY!! Haha

Yeah, I've got into a habit of wiring every plug I fit in that way :)... I can't even remember what I shorted, but I can sure remember the smell of burning electrics!

I'll keep that in mind! It'll probably be January once I've got both the amps installed & everything put back together :)

Thanks

& Hassen, I've seen fiesta ST's with hydro dipped consoles but they're all facelift ones and they've had the part of the dash done aswell... Which I don't really like as I like the contrast between the black & the carbon fibre :)

Another teaser!

post-57403-141825299387_thumb.jpg

So today My Aux/USB input arrived, along with some loom tape I ordered over a month ago! The aux input is if really good quality! I can't wait to fit it! Along with the 3.5mm extension for the CD MC20 mic (May have got the name wrong.. Aha) meaning once the dash arrives back on Friday (I had to rebook the courier for collection tomorrow due to the lacquer needing time to cure) I can refit the stereo permanently as I've already ran the extra phono cables & signal cable for the front amp!

I also ordered a friend some DRLs from china for Christmas (I'm a cheapskate) and they arrived with the box frankly trashed but they work perfectly! I'm considering fitting them to my car & ordering a relay for them. I'll upload a quick mockup sometime at the weekend! :) I'd appreciate all your opinions!

So today after work I installed my aux/USB port. I replaced the 12v socket as all I ever do is use a USB adapter and charge my phone off it.. Where as now I could also charge my phone & browse my files whilst it's plugged in.. I'm abit gutted really as the 32gb USB drive is too big for the headunit to recognise :( post-57403-141833806914_thumb.jpg

Excuse the messy floor... Doing about 5 mods at once! Aha

Oh I really like the usb port. And how does the aux link in to it? It's very neat. My current setup is a wire from the back of my head unit just tucked by the side of the console. How's the USB powered?

The USB simply plugs into the headunit & is powered by it. The aux port also connects to the headunit

Excuse the mismatch in colour with the mirror! I'm spraying the exterior plastics gloss black when the weather picks up!! I highly recommend 'Rade Customs' for hydrodipping, alloy wheel refurbs & painting! Great lads, polite & always willing to help!

I've started mounting my 4 channel amp into it's new enclosure & prepping all the wiring. The car is ready to accept the amp! All I need to do is connect the earth, put the fuse in & connect the new speaker cables!

The carbon vinyl was just put in as I had loaaaads of scraps from a project last year and I thought it might help to waterproof it slightly

Looks sweet mate,

Some 3mm clear perspex with a blue led strip hidden in the frame connected to the boot light loom would look sweet,

Perhaps a frosted glass style Ford oval decal stuck to interior of perspex sheet would catch the prism of light

Lenny, this is the amp I'm hiding under the seat :).... Hence why I'm not really bothered how messy it looks

I'm thinking about making something similar but just the outer frame, then putting Perspex on it like you suggested! That way I could protect the JL audio amp in the boot that I'm getting next month!
