MICK GREBO
Hi Everybody After having my new Fiesta ZS for a month now i am just loving it. But one thing i am not happy about is the fuel filler flap. You would have thought that it would have locked on the dead locks. Is this the same on all Fords now even on the ST. My older ZS locked with the key as most other cars do. So why have Ford not got the lockable flap. Mick G.
Nathan54771
Because you can't get the fuel out of it or anything in it without the funnel so what's the need in the expense of making it lock ?
gillyallan
Couldn't someone for badness be walking about with a ford funnel though
Philf1
Yeh they could but they could also have a screwdriver to prise your lockable cap open and do even more damage to the car as well as stealing your fuel.

MarksST
Couldn't someone for badness be walking about with a ford funnel though My understanding of the system is that even with the funnel you couldn't get a hose into the tank. Putting the funnel or pump nozzle in the filler neck opens some smaller holes at the sides, not a big hole at the bottom of the neck.Quite a clever system really. winemart2
I notice on my Tit that the plastic flap is a lousy fit against the body. No way will it seal against rain, it's only plastic to seal against, too. Water in the fuel here we come. Whadaya expect for 12k.

Don't think it matters because if you look at the bottom of the bit you put fuel in there is a hole to drain

MattDRX
Does anyone even steal fuel these days?
matt1981
It's a shame it doesn't lock. Some kids walking past mine flicked it open just for 'fun'

RickyT93
i also find this pretty annoying as i was trying to get fuel from a jerry can into my tank the other day and to open it was pretty damn hard whilst trying to get the funnel in the hole the same time and even then i ended up losing half the fuel out of the drain hole and up the side of my car! MattDRX
Your car does come with a small white funnel to aid that process btw

Stoney871
If you don't have a funnel Ford charge about £5 for them.
MICK GREBO
Thats what brought it to my attention at the start. Some one had opened it slightly whilst i was at work. I had assumed it would lock on dead lock like our Astra does. Mick G.
