GYDA
Went to the ford garage on Saturday and bagged myself an Ford Fiesta ST-2 in race red with the ST style pack for £15,500, already had one car in white and another in black so fancied a change, although the blue was tempting! It was booked in for delivery on the 20th December, but got a phone call on monday saying he's found a brand new one i can have next week, with a few extra's on that i won't have to pay for like automatic headlights/windscreen wipers. Anyway, been telling my mates about it and they all reckon i should get the mountune upgrade on it, anyone had any experience with it on the fiesta? It does sound tempting with the warranty staying valid etc, does it affect the MPG much? been flicking through these forums for past couple of days for ideas on what to do with it. Basically read every single review on the fiesta st's and next week can't come soon enough! haven't even test drove one yet cause the garage didnt have any in so just driving home from there next week will be quality considering the car i've just got rid of is a poor 1.2l corsa that i had to drop down to 2nd gear in just to make it up any hills haha. Phil 87
Congrats on the car :). I'd say go for the mountune if you can afford it, but wait a while to get used to the car so you can tell the difference. Just don't expect a huge increase in power. And from my experience it doesn't affect mpg at all, I've averaged 37 mpg since getting the car, and having it mountuned didn't affect that. the car i've just got rid of is a poor 1.2l corsa that i had to drop down to 2nd gear in just to make it up any hills haha. The ST will be a quantum leap forward lol. You'll find you can get up hills in 5th and even 6th if you're going fast enough :)
Philf1
Lots of folks on here and elsewhere rave about the mountune upgrade and certainly retaining the warranty makes it tempting. However not everyone rates it, think it was Clarky, might be wrong, who had it on his first ST but not on his second and won't be getting it as the gains are not really worth the £600+. Personally I would like to drive one with and one without back to back to make my own judgement. Till then I'll stick with the stock map. Interestingly I'm organising a dyno day and Phil87 is coming along so we will see what the dyno map really shows the difference to be. Will be posting our findings when its been done that might help make your mind up.
MarksST
I think Clarky had the mp215 fitted a few weeks ago to his blue ST.
Phil 87
Another thing that made me want to get the MP215 is that now the car is slightly faster than than the RS Clio and the 208 GTI, instead of being slower. And supposedly it can keep up with a Focus ST :)
GYDA
Cheers for the replies lads, I think im going to go for it after Christmas, like phil said i want to try it normally first so i can appreciate the extra power when i get it. anyone got any opinions on that autoglymm lifeshine? got suckered into getting that on my car, didnt really think anything about it, he give me the usual !Removed! about how its usually 500 quid but he'll give me it for £250 which i didnt beleive but i thought for 250 quid just whack it on, only going to help in the long run. Spoke to a mate of mine who does car valeting and he said its massively over priced, but i cba with messing about getting all the stuff myself, putting it on myself etc, rather get some professionals do it, the garage said they get trained people down to do it for them etc.Presume i've still got time to cancel it if the opinions on here are bad? sacking it off will mean i get my car 24 hours earlier too :D haha
MattDRX
I'd go with it, it's a selling point too in the end of the day when it comes to parting with it, the warranty is transferable for £25 too. Personally I wouldn't bother with the MP215 stuff, I've had a "street test" with someone who had the pack fitted and there was minimal difference in it, I'd just go with the Revo Remap and the ITG Filter which on Demons and other sites is currently half price, cheaper than the MP215 and a much better filter, would probably be better results too. Phil 87
I agree MP215 only makes a small difference, it only makes sense when you factor in the warranty, and it also changes the engine sounds slightly.
Clarky2013
I think Clarky had the mp215 fitted a few weeks ago to his blue ST. As above, I was booked in for Revo stage 1 with an ITG kit but bottled it as I cant afford to break the warranty if something goes wrong, given this ST had engine troubles at the beginning of its life. Still wanted a bit more power and the only option without breaking warranty is Mountune

Clarky2013
I've had a faulty injector in the first week then a oil leak, and a needed a new set of plugs. That was within the first few hundred miles though. Now been over 4000 miles trouble free, but you never know what will happen. I now believe the myth of Friday cars! MarksST
I wouldn't bother with the lifeshine, you would be better off getting a detailer to prep and seal it rather than the dealer valeters apply lifeshine, all your doing is giving the salesman more money. I have the MP215 and would recommend it, the car does pull better, mainly at higher revs. It feels like a factory car not a modified one in the way the extra power and mainly the torque comes in. Being in the passenger seat you won't feel the effects as much but that's the same as most mods. You also have peace of mind with the warranty. Revo and a filter isn't that much cheaper than Mountune, gains are similar, just where the torque is in the rev range may make it feel livelier. GYDA
Cheers Mark, defiantly going to go for the MP215 after christmas! got a couple more questions away from the ST - obviously trading my corsa in part exchange for it, he asked me what condition it was in, i said fine except for the alloys so he knocked 200 quid off for that and has agreed £5,300. Since then ive realised that the tyre puncture repair kit solution needs replacing because i used it a month or two ago, and the light switch for the interior lighting is abit fiddly, you just move it about abit so it connects to whatevers behind it (cant see that been a big job at atall like) do i tell him about them two or just leave it? everythings signed and weve agreed a price
GlynnZS
Yeah I wouldn't tell him!
MarksST
As above don't tell him, the salesman is just looking after his own wallet so, will take money off you any way he can. Like the way he has agreed a PX value without looking at the car,I wouldn't have mentioned the alloys, if he can't be bothered leaving his desk to look at it, more fool him. I would advise getting GAP insurance but not from the dealer, theirs is massively overpriced and your just giving him more commission. You might get the impression from this post that I don't like salesmen, which would be correct. Lol
GlynnZS
How much you reckon you can get gap for? Might cancel mine and get it elsewhere if it works out cheaper.
MarksST
Loads of GAP insurers on line but I went with ALA (replacement car policy) 3 years for £160, 2 years was about £120.
dmizz93
That's damn cheap! I was put off GAP by the large monthly payment on top of the car, you can for the gap for a year, get it for three. Just didn't work out for me! Thanks for the heads up! Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Phil 87
I got gap cover with ALA too, but I left it too late so could only get "back to invoice". It was £120 for 3 years.
MarksST
If you haven't already got GAP insurance, please do unless your insurers do new for old, you would still need it for year 2 onwards though.
winemart2
This GAP insurance is just for accident write-offs, yea?
MarksST
Yes if the car is a total loss via accident or stolen.
