I'd personally to pcp...

Cheaper monthly payments than a hire purchase agreement which would be comparable of prices paid for a lease agreement - the main advantage being you get to decide whether you actually want to keep it at the end of the 2/3 years, upgrade or just hand back!

As mentioned above go on sites such as carwow or drive the deal, then visit a deale and see whether they can match/beat the quote :)

I lease mine for £130 a month through Gateway2Lease, hand back after 2 years.

If he's looking for a tdci ZEtec S, going to a lease company or to a main dealer for a PCP deal isn't going to work.

He needs to find a used dealer with that car in stock who can do finance or get a bank loan.

I've been looking around at Fiesta leases for ages now. Best quote I got for my ST was from a company called Future Vehicle Leasing who are a subsidiary of MW Vehicle Contracts, who in turn are a Leaseplan brand. Also regulated by the BRLVA.

I'll find the spreadsheet I had going and try to find the other competitive companies.

Dunno about that particular one, but I'm paying £164 a month for a 64 plate ST-2. £1k down, 10,000 miles p/a, 24 months.

Ah fairs, I put my old car in p/ex (2600 they gave me) and 123p/m for my ST over 24months which I didn't think was too bad. Just means I will have a small amount of 'equity' to pay with at the end of the agreement

How things have changed since I were a lad. In 1965 we'd pay 1 or £200 for a car/banger and be chuffed to bits with it. If we couldn't find 1 or £200 we couldn't have one :)

Then again, wages were ~£16 per week :D

Agree with Ray (I feel faint ). when I started driving I wouldn't have dreamed of owning a new car, the cost of buying and insuring a new car would have been way too much. Buying new wasn't something younger people did, now you can get cheap finance at 18. Shame really as I think you miss some of the fun of owning a car, there are some fantastic older cars which noone will go near.
