Whistling Noise

Hi

I have a mk2 ford focus tdci 2.0

Monday night my car died, but started first time with a jump but spewed out lots of white smoke which cleared after about 5 mins idling and 500m driving. I did not notice any unusual noises during this drive.

Anyway put a new battery on from ford (farther in law works for quicko) started up first time no smoke no lights on dash. Took it for a drive and there is a whistling noise when I accelerate which was not there before I changed the battery. There was no performance issues, or smoke when I drive it now.

I am working for the next 4 days so cannot get chance to have a good look in day light as I work 12 hour days.

Is there anything I should be looking for in particular before I take it to a mechanic?

Oh just to mention serviced last March by a friend all filters and oil changed including fuel filter and blanked EGR

Thanks

you have possibly knocked the turbo hose, which may have split or detached.

That's the mass air flow hose and worth a check as well.... But the intercooler pipe is the one leaving the turbo and going down the engine bay

its fine to drive, the whistle is air escaping under pressure, as long as it doesnt sound like a vacuum cleaner you will be fine. I drove my CMAX with a split intercooler pipe that was whistling for about 6 months before I fixed it and I didnt have any real issues beyond MPG being a little worse for wear and plumes of black smoke from the exhaust.
