Should Indicators Make Tick Tick Sound When On?

Hi all,

my son has purchased a Ford Fiesta 2003 Finesse 1.3. (is this the MK6?) The question is should there be a sound when you use the indicators, ie tick tick?

The indicators work fine and the dash lights blink but there is no sound to say they are working, I assume there is something in the settings to turn this on or off?

Radio fitted is 4500 RDS E.O.N

Yes there should be an audible noise to accompany the flashing. Very much doubt there will be anything in the settings on the car as its a base model mk6 and that kind of trickery wasn't really around back then. Probably a relay problem or something similar.

The audible module for indicators is usually fitted to the instrument cluster.

Thanks for your reply, I am used to Vauxhalls and have been able to program them from 2002 so assumed that Ford would be similiar :-).

Considering that the indicators work and the lights flash on the dash can I assume that there is a solid state relay in the ECU, hence why there is no relay noise and that the sound should be coming from a mini speaker type thing around the steering wheel cowling somewhere.

Could anybody confirm this and maybe pinpoint where the sound appears to be coming from in their car so I can investigate further.
