Deep86
Morning all, I bought my Mondeo last year and so far has been the best car I've ever owned, however I've recently had an issue with my Sat Nav. I went to the SMC Dealer in Uxbridge a few weeks ago, and they quoted me £3,000 for a brand new sat nav!!! Now that's a fair whack given I paid £12,000 for the car just last year! I've attached a picture of what happens with the sat nav. Here's a list of issues that occur: The map will go completely grey and nothing will display, however I can go to any other screen and they'll work perfectly. It'll eventually reset itself and all the map settings will be lost, including my saved locations. Once it's reset itself the map will default back to Germany and then retriangulate it's current position. No other settings get affected, it's just purely the map. Now this seems to be a software issue, and is there a way I could reformat the software back to default settings? Or is there any company that I can use who will be able to do it for me for a fraction of the price? £3k is a bit !Removed! much! Cheers guys :)! BOF
£3k is a bit !Removed! much! You can only agree with that. If it comes down to it, a breaker would probably be a lot cheaper, as would getting one of the Chinese Android/WinCE ones. So, it looks like the mapping software is crashing. It is possible (shouldn't be, but possible) that the map file itself is corrupt, and then re-loading that map file might help. Beyond that, I don't know how you can get the software re-loaded - there must be a possibility, I would have though, but I don't know who could do that for you. It is probably worth re-setting everything by pulling one of the battery terminals for a period (having all the codes that you need on a re-set, of course) - slightly low probability of it curing the underlying issue, but at least it is cheap! adambell
Try booking it in to a ford dealership for a software update. Various people on here have experienced issues with their nav system and the "update" has cleared them. It could possibly be the gps antenna itself. Either way, get ford to look at it.
