Hi all. Just a quickie had my letter for the glow plug recall on the fiesta. Called my dealer 4 weeks ago still waiting for parts. Anyone else having this issue. Ford dealer say ford are having issues getting the parts into the uk and will expect this to be resolved by February 2015 are they pulling my leg or is this a common issue.

No, have the same recall, my car is booked in 17th Dec for replacement part. Was told there was a three week wait for parts.

Quite possible Ford's supplier is maxed out having to supply the new spec or non-faulty parts to both their manufacturing sites and for all the recall replacement cars. Especially if the glow plug fault applies to other car lines, Ford or non-Ford too.

Unfortunately for existing owners they will prioritise maintaining supply to manufacturing plants because stopping production is a more direct financial hit compared to unhappy customers. imho.

Mmm kind of confirmed my suspicions. They have said they will accept liability should the car catch fire as a result of the recall so that's good news I suppose.

I did have it booked in for the 27th November but the called and cancelled as they said ford had sent the parts for a mondeo not a fiesta so would have to re-order.

It might be an idea to call several other dealers and ask when they can do it, then if you can get it done sooner just cancel your appointment with the other dealer after the job is done.

Ahh just spoke to another dealer what's happened is the replacement parts they shipped also have another fault and had to be recalled they are now looking also in to the new year for parts. The whole ford dealerships are in the same boats ones that they replaced are having to be done again as the replacement parts are also faulty. Looks like they actually made a big mess of this recall.

I would check with your dealer if the parts there DieselPig. The three I have spoken to this morning won't book in as they cannot get parts. They are ordering them and then calling to book in. No dealers have had stock of the second replacement part.

I must of timed it right. Had the letter three weeks ago. Rang my dealer 8:30am on the Saturday morning to book the car in and by 9:20am I was back home having driven there and had the work done after they said come straight in we have the parts.

Yep I booked mine in and they were fitting it the week after my letter the 27th nov then they called me on the day said the new parts were wrong and had to be re-ordered. Found out today the first lot they sent out also has another recall fault so they couldn't be fitted and ones that were will need doing again :( just got to wait now till the new new parts get into the uk

Came across something today which I wondered if it related to this recall and google has just confirmed it.

http://auto.ndtv.com/news/ford-india-recalls-3072-fiesta-diesel-cars-701591

Fault is down to the glow plug module failing, and initial diagnosis pointed to a water ingress issue so an updated part with extra waterproofing was developed. But now the root cause has been determined as a different failure hence the situation where the first recall parts have been superceded and everything has been further delayed.

Checked with my dealer and they confirmed there is a balls-up with the replacement parts but I have the correct one being delivered this Tuesday for my car, allegedly!

  • 3 weeks later...

A friend of ours was looking at buying a 2011 Fiesta 1.6 Diesel and when I looked at Ford Etis, I saw a recall for it.

Thanks for the additional information here people.

A quick check of the recall database reveals reveals it is one of 41,564 with the problem...

I recently found a recall for a neighbours Mondeo also, so I'm feeling like a Ford crusader at the moment!

Dragging back an old topic...

There is a recall on the parts replaced in in the Recall, if you had your car in under this Earlier recall they need to check the actual unit they used really was the waterproof version,,,

Apparently most dealers will have the parts in already...

Oh heck. Finally got mine done in feb hope that's not a part that's again been recalled. Love my car to buy couldn't bare to think of parting with it but this recall is a farce they don't seem to be able to get it right.

Got mine this morning, however Gates said it was not all parts that were affected, apparently a quick process, they offered to check while I waited so can't be a big job...

So, they are doing another recall because they did the last recall wrong? Is Ford secretly being run by Vauxhall now? lol
