London's Finest
Hey guys, Soo...took the car out today and the engine management light lit up after filling the tank. What are the causes? Has this happened to you? How do I reset it? Thanks, LF
stef123
You will need to have the fault code read and go from there. It could be absolutely anything. Is the car still running as normal?
London's Finest
Resolved! Car was running fine so I was confused however, after doing some research it turns out the fuel filler caps sometimes play up, there is a sensor attached so if the cap isnt fully shut, fuel vapours escape and the engine management light pops up. So I opened the cap and closed again and the engine light went away.
stef123
I've never heard of that but a fix is a fix, happy motoring again then
London's Finest
I was sceptical too but I wanted to try it out as I didn't fill her up; my mate's dad filled her up while I paid at the counter and the fact that the light came on after filling up even though the temperature was fine and engine performance was fine. Happy the light's gone :)
Jake90087
That is one of the most common causes of the CEL. Glad it was a simple fix, though.
