Marcr1
I saw a similar thread on a non Ford forum and it piped up some conflicting comments so thought I'd ask the question here, so imagine you were writing a list to Ford and what improvements would you like to see next time around? What should Ford do to improve the Fiesta (any variation of the mk 7/7.5)?
Willy
5 door ST. Drop Sync and go back to the old system. HIDs Extra boot light Rear disk brakes
Marcr1
Good choices! All cars should have xenon's fitted from factory I believe the difference in vision is night and day! Much safer option. Rear disk brakes are also a win in my book
jace1969
Put a light in the back like most cars have Bit more soundproofing so you can't hear road noise. And as said above,ST with 5 door as the focus has.
Phil 87
Independent rear suspension, like the Focus has since the MK1 (although this would make the car more expensive). And at least an option for Xenons, and replace all halogen bulbs with LEDs as standard (especially brake lights and indicators). And another thing, front and rear dash cams built in. All new cars should have this. That's all it needs really, but to be honest they shouldn't try to change too much. We don't want them to go too far like VW did over 10 years ago with the Golf, making it fatter and heavier than the previous car.
Lawrie323
I would definitely agree with the rear brake discs. Also dash cameras front and back as mentioned would be a nice option. My biggest point would be the gear ratios in the ecoboost engines though, they are just too long and the car would accelerate just that bit better. Alternatively adding a 6th gear would be good. London's Finest
I've driven the 64 reg 1.5 diesel fiesta, they've got it perfect for my needs. The previous engine was an animal, the 1.4 tdci and the gear box was terrible, you had two options, for roundabouts you could be in third and comfortable and have no control or be in 2nd reving the nuts off it to keep going. The brakes were spongy and horrid: pedal action was way off, you press it 1/4 way nothing happens you push it 2cm more and everything applies at once making smooth braking impossible. The new model car is lighter and so the engine feels much bigger. It feels like a 2.0, the torques good, the brakes are amazing and the gear box is fantastic, its short shifts and precise shifts. The mirrors are perfect and the interior mirror is huge so that makes driving a small car that much easier. Improvements: Xenon and led daytime lights. Updated dash design / controls for a 15 grand small car you'd expect a little more than what you actually get.
Lawrie323
Yeah, the gearbox in every ford I've ever been in has been great as is the ecoboosts. Between second and third especially when slowing down is probably a less extreme case as your own with your previous engine but it does make for a fairly undecided approach to roundabouts or sharp corners when you are Driving in a casual manner. Rev or risk juddering along basically
London's Finest
Oh its far worse than that. Its like you can change from 4th @900rm (at the point of stalling) into 2nd @ 1900rpm and have no power but rev up to 2500 to get to 15-20mph in 2nd so everyone's staring at you or change up and sit quietly at 1300rpm at 20mph but have no control what so ever (especially at gradients). The car starts lunging every time you go near the accelerator in 3rd or stall by touching the sensitive brakes. My 2001 petrol 1.25 is better than that car. That model with that engine and gearbox was just a bad call. Glad the new ones so much better
jduck1979
Well I noticed on the car config on Ford's website that there isn't a dark metallic green colour option. Would I be right in guessing changing the headlight bulbs is still a pain in the !Removed! job compared to older cars? (e.g. having to take half the front end of the car apart just to get at it, instead of just being able to open the bonnet and doing it from the back of the unit)
Mellieha
6-speed gearbox on EcoBoost or at the very least on 125PS variants or even just the 'S' ? Not as vital as some road test reviews would have you believe though. I find 5-speed is fine on A/B roads and motorways but can be a pain in and around town i.e. spending too much time in (long) 2nd/3rd gears Agree! Xenon lights. Especially useful to us 50-somethings! I've also heard on very good authority that pre-facelift Mk7's are even worse? apparently had many complaints from mainstream owners. LED rear lights Agree! Boot light Agree! Discs at rear, again at the very least on 125PS variants for 'spirited' driving and full loads. Common sense, safety sense. Would happily pay more Less buttons and thus rattle potential on (standard) radio Sunglasses holder Mobile phone storage in center console. Tricky I know with differing sizes etc but some manufacturers have done it already? Just anything halfway usable Another 10 to 15PS on Zetec S Ecoboost 125 to 'distance' it from Titanium and compliment its sporting pretensions with its lower, stiffer springs, spoiler etc Anyway, always need a bit more power! (And torque to match) Again thinking Zetec S: Even more 'sportier' seats and one of the first things I noticed when buying/road testing; a better sportier steering wheel. Don't like the standard one to start with but to then put it on the 'S'..... errrr thats about all I can come up with after a quick 'think'......oh and perhaps an engine cover to cover-up all the unsightly 'spaghetti' that greets you when you open the bonnet
laumk7
Well I noticed on the car config on Ford's website that there isn't a dark metallic green option) Green is an unlucky colour for a car imo and in opinion of several people I've spoken to also Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
Willy
Zetec S in a 5 door. Zetec S is already power upgraded to 140 bhp in the Red / Black edition
HarryNLD
I've got an Fiesta MK7,5 Titanium X. Very nice car, but there some things that ford haven't thought about. - HID (Xenon) lighting !! - oil temperature display (Like the average speed, fuel consumption, etc.) - 6-speed gearbox as an option- Sunglasses holder (like the B-max) - Plastic/rubber cover on the footrest (next to the pedals, Ford removed this on the MK7) - LED rear light / license plate light - Rear disc breaks (at least on the S and 125hp< models) - Moveable armrest (right now it's just useless) - Better interior finish (do something about the little noises) - Windscreen washer reservoir sensor (the sensor that tells you that the reservoir is empty. Ford removed it on the MK7) - Heated seats with 5 settings (like every other Ford model) - Windscreen wipers with an anti-drip wipe (like the MK6,5, they also removed this function on de MK7) - Luxurious screen in between the dials (like the Focus Titanium models) - Fixings points on al the floor mats (even in the back) - Broken light sensor - More storage in the back for emergency equipment (out of sight) - Factory fitted life hammers (integrated in the dash/door panel) A part from this, the Fiesta is a great car:d

laumk7
Parking lights? Like on the Mondeo mk3, lights that use very little juice and stay on when the car is off without complaint - be very handy around here Sent from my iPad using Ford OC

troy45
I think the US model of ST is available as 5-dr only? Not a Fiesta owner myself but my mum has had a few Mk7 / Mk7.5's and it would be nice if Ford could solve the problem of condensation forming inside the car. All her Fiesta's have been the same. Leaving heater direction dial in different positions doesn't make a difference, nor leaving the vents closed. It's a pain at the best of times but now with her having to use the heated screen to clear frost it also causes water to drip off the screen inside the car. Definitely a specific Fiesta problem it seems

Jake90087
Better interior options. The mk5 had the old person beige options, the mk6 had different dash colours as did the mk7, but with the facelift there is only interior differences is on the white and red Zetec S. Xenon headlights, yes but they're difficult to engineer into the car as a low cost option. I imagine they'll be in the next generation fiesta, or LED headlamps. A 5dr ST also, since 5 door small hatches are really useful.
