Paramanic
how is your brake pads? because is it goes right down could be your brake pads are wearing down or fluid but as you said fluid is fine a suggest checking the pads but apart from that ....my knowledge only goes so far :P
Mike77
Had this on mine on the test drive, garage said they would sort it before I picked it up. Few days later after their mechanics were left scratching their heads it ended up in fords. Turned out to be the ABS unit, apparently its quite a common problem ? But it cost the garage nearly £300 to put right... but did solve the problem.
clakyp
Cheers ... Deffo not pads heard a few people have had the problem but never a solution .. Wonder if it's worth getting another ABS unit & re bleed the system them Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
B13
Yep! Despite my protestations that Mk 7 brakes are renowned for being 'soggy', my mechanic fella insisted that I should consider having my pads and discs replaced. The look of embarrassment on his face after he'd done it and realised that the brakes were STILL soggy was priceless!! :D Sent from Ye Olde iPadde using Ford OC
Paramanic
Only said pads because the mk6 I had had this and was because of the pads lol
MattDRX
Soggy brakes is air in the system, just give them a bleed and top up after, will sort it and make the pedal nice and firm.
Ffoxy
Is there any documentation showing the brake fluid has been changed in 2-3 years? Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air and water can be compressed more than brake fluid can. Air of course is far worse, but with water in the brake system, that can turn to steam when the brakes are used heavily meaning no brakes.... Just when you need them most.... Mike77
Soggy brakes is air in the system, just give them a bleed and top up after, will sort it and make the pedal nice and firm. This is not always the cure. It would obviously be the first port of call. But in my case, the system was bled, problem still there, then it was pressure bled at a garage, still the same. Then ford diagnosed the ABS control module, replaced it, pressure bled it again and its been fine ever since....

iantt
Known issues with a few abs units, rarely needs abs unit, usually need bleeding via abs pump on diagnostics.

iantt
Ask them to use symptom based diagnostics for brake pedal travel.
