Stupid Deal

So Wife's lease deal is up next few weeks.

So took to tinternet this weekend and low and behold.

Fiesta 125 ZS with Met Paint, 8K PA, £1200 and a stupidly low £115 PM in VAT.

Simply cannot get a better deal on any new like for like or even inferior car.

I really don't want her to have a ZS but took her to Fraud to try and it and she liked it so whatever the deal is done and just waiting 14 days to get it now.

Ford are seriously doing themselves out of new car sales with this discounting to online firms,

same deposit directly comes to £279PM doing it online, just such a good deal. who cares for £115PM when it includes servicing etc???

The salesman we leeched a test ride off was also a flid, said the tax is quite cheap at £130PA?? good sales pitch bro, first thing he said when she looked at it within 30 seconds was " what do you think? is this your next new car? drives beautifully doesn't it?" this was before she even sat in it. idiot.

Anyway, all you ZS wanting / loving people on here just get a lease deal on it, simply no comparison to be had anywhere else in the UK right now on these things.

Plus for the record Willy and Big Rog, now been in a ZS and no notable difference in between the 100's and 125s, honestly there isn't.

Why wouldn't you want her to have a Ford? You own one yourself and you don't like them?

Looks like a great deal, but doesn't a lease mean that you're basically renting the car and you have to give it back at the end of the lease? Correct me if I'm wrong, I never really looked into leasing. That could work out well though if you want to keep the car for 2 or 3 years then get another new car on lease, you'll always have a new car with warranty and never need an MOT.

Probably will fall through like the M135i "done deal" but if it does go ahead, two Fez's on the driveway will look well smart at the Windsor gaff.

Sarcasm noted Dave.

Phil yes it is just renting, but all in it works out to £3310 by my math for the whole deal, any other deal direct being a HP sceme or leasing something else just do not come close, a new Clio was about £4.5K all in, and most other manufactures direct all want at least the VAT paying off upfront so £4K plus monthly payments.

Nothing comes close,

Chris no I don't like Fords, but they are just too cheap to turn down when buying new, somehow they are cheaper than the French crap and even things like Aygos now are huge money, Woman at work has a brand new one fully speccd ( not a great spec by regular means ) cost her £14k!!!! for an Aygo!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone wanting a new car should take this imo, they had a Tit going for £130pm but only had them in black or had to factory order and wait 12 weeks.

Works out better than buying, you don't lose as much when you tosh your bought car in. I've lost £££££'s when swapping and changing, I am going to look into these options when I'm ready for a change.

Yeah it would be interesting to see how a lease on an ST works out compared to what I did. I sold my last Fiesta for just under 6k and got a 5 year loan to cover the rest, so I'm paying about £225 per month. Assuming I'll want a new car when this one is 5 years old, it might have worked out better to lease a new car every 2 or 3 years.

Although if I take into account that I'll get £6k for this when I sell it (should be more than that really) then in effect I'm paying £125 per month so probably better off in the long run.

I lease my ZS for £130 a month. Just spotted a Fiesta ST-2 for £155 a month, absolute bargain.

Got to say the leasing is sounding good. I mean ive always paid a car. As soon as loan deal is done I generally trade and buy another. Other than my previous car which I kept an extra 10 months after I paid it off.

To have a new car every 2 or 3 years sounds good too . Only thing being mileage as I can obviously do what I like in my car and average around 10-12k

I don't even know if we get these type of lease deals in SA, but at the end of the two year contract do you basically give the car back? so it's like a long term rental contract?

I can see the positives in this, but at the end of the day you never own the car?

Yes, it's basically a long term rental and you hand the car back. There are some very cheap deals. Even if you go over the mile quota by a small amount, the penalty is usually only about 6p a mile. I very nearly did this, but I got a very good purchase price and as I do 20k miles a year, the maths didn't quite work.

I remember a salesman at Benfield Ford in Leeds told me they've never charged someone for doing extra miles, but I suspect he was lying though his teeth lol.

As for owning / not owning the car, that was one of the main things that made me want to get a loan and buy the car. If it's on a lease aren't you just the registered keeper and the dealership still owns the car? And is there anything stopping them from taking the car back at some point even if you want to keep it?

Makes me wonder if you get stopped by the police and they ask "is this your car?", do they really mean "are you the registered keeper of this car?"

If you do "actually" rent the Fez, just make sure it's got the right level of toys this time, I wouldn't want you to endure another Pauper Spec.

I've never leased so far, I like a few years of no payments after its been paid off. That's as long as the car is reliable. Once it starts developing problems I usually part ex for a new one and start again

I'm about to lease for the first time. I've gone for a Zetec S Red Edition.

Mines a 2yr deal at £151 with a initial +3 payment of £453.

I guess you need to weigh your lease up against the depreciation of the car.

Personally at this price a month, & the fact i can get a new car again in 2yrs I'm happy to go for it.

I very nearly leased one on a similar deal.. pretty cheap, especially as that includes VAT..

You'll love the Red Edition.

I might consider a lease on my next car, just depends what else can tempt me away from the ST lol. I'd go for a new Mustang V8 but that's not happening on my salary.

Those prices are including VAT. I think I'd only lease for 3yrs max, don't want the hassle of MOT's & the manufacturers warranty runs out, so think it would be more expensive in the long run even if you are offered a cheaper monthly payment for 4yrs +. Also 3yrs is probably the longest I'd go before really wanting a change, as that's a perk of leasing.

A bit of advice for anyone that wants to lease. Start looking and ordering well in advance of needing the car as it's not a speedy process,. The quickest turnaround time even if there's a car sitting there for you is abou 3/4 weeks. As once you've signed the contract there's a 14 day cooling off period that needs to pass before they can even start organising delivery. & as Ford Fiestas are so popular, there's normally a wait for the car too.

I have always been one to purchase cars, my last 96 model Toyota Conquest Sport I kept around for 10 years and 3 months before selling it for 500 pounds less than what I payed for it 10 years before, who new that old car would become a classic :D

It was great not having car payments for about 8 years, but felt after 230 000km I needed something new. I wanted something similiar to what I had before and the Fiesta ticked all the right boxes for me, I will probably sell the car in two years time before the value starts declineing, or keep it for another 10 years and sell it as a classic ;)

I think you'll lose money as soon as you drive off the dealerships forecourt.

True, at least with a lease you know exactly how much the car is going to cost over 2 or 3 years. The only real variables are how much fuel you use and whether you have an accident in that time and have to make a claim / pay for repairs.

Edit: also tyres, service costs etc. It might have been simpler if I said you just don't have to worry about depreciation or MOTs :)
