LucasxDiniz Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Hi, I have recently bought a Ford Focus 2006 1.6, which means I still haven't driven it in a warm day. So I never tested the air conditioning system, just assumed it worked. But today I was changing the bulbs on the RHS headlight and realised that two of the air conditioning pipes were completely loose. Since I couldn't figure out how they were put together or find any blueprints, you guys are my last resource before I get the car checked by a specialist. JW1982 Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 These pipes should be connected to the dryer of the air conditioning system. On your pictures the dryer seems to be completely missing. If the dryer is missing and the air conditioning system has been empty for some time the other parts of the system like the air conditioning compressor for example may also need to be changed. The part on the picture is not the dryer. The parton the picture in front of the radiator is the condensor of the airconditioning system. The condensor is a heat exchanger which cools the gas formed coolant back to a liquid formed coolant. troy45 Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Hadn't realised that people called the condenser and dryer the same thing, was thinking that drier referred to the radiator. jbeer Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 I had to change my Air Con Condenser in Apr last year and got it from eBay for about £50. Not the easiest part to install, you'll need to jack up the front, take the undertrays off, Imtercooler off, drop the main car rad off its brackets then you can start to think about putting the Condenser in.
