Morning all on Saturday i picked up my new 2006 mondeo 2.0 tdci zetec and its was great sunday morning i took her out she was a bit noisy on start up then after 20 mins took her on a duel carriage accelerated around 50...big pause loss of acceleration and power then it caught up then it happend again went ininto limp mode i think with glow plug light on. I restarted her and she seemed ok. Have i bought a dud car or is it an easy fix.

I'd be checking for recent fuel filter change - if no evidence then change it & also check the M.A.F. sensor & is the E.G.R.V. either clean or blanked ?

Fuel filter was done recently but iam not sure about the egr. I got a months warranty with the car and the guy collected it yesterday. But when it comes back i wll have a look at the egr

There's a legal minimum of 3 / 6 months warranty ( I think ) if you bought from a dealer ?

Most common is the turbo hose from egr to intercooler splitting , quick and easy check

Agreed. Although it's not unheard for for either the intercooler pipe to split. So worth checking the intercooler feed hose at th e bottom of the engine bay

She is back. The dealer told me they checked injectors and fuel rail pressure with the computer and it was fine. He says it was a blocked up fuel filter. They have changed it and put some additives in the tank. As soon as i finish work iam going to test her and perhaps at the weekend clean and blank the egr.

Good choice. If you have the 1.8 get it blanked.

I have the 2.0 tdci zetec. Looking at the amount of rubish they get clogged up with it makes sense

Yeah unfortunately the 2.0 and above are electrically operated and can generate an error code and warning light, but I understand that I'd you leave the light alone after a few months it ignores it and goes away. I would make sure you have a code reader to hand though and monitor the codes to make sure nothing else appears in this time as it can be hidden because your ignoring the earning light (been there done that lol)

Luck would have it i have the torque app and an eml37. Iam going to get the modded one from eBay and start there. Iam based in essex if anyone local needs a hand with a reset or code read no problem.
