jimmygixer
Been driving about all day today without a problem. I turned the car off for five minutes but then wouldnt restart. All i get is one click from the solenoid i assume. Had to bump it down the street. I have suspected the starter motor was past it a year ago. Some times it will spin slowly and the odd time it really flies. My battery is only 2 months old and i remember after fitting it the car still didnt turn over that fast sometimes. So i am betting it needs ripped out. Can these be cleaned out and/or fixed easily by joe average to get them running a while longer rather than binning it if its not totally shot? artscot79
If its that bad its time for a new one rather than delaying the inevitable
Micro
Is it actually the motor? Have you checked all wires are in good order (no breaks, damage) and all fixings are tight on electrical connections?

Have you checked all wires are in good order (no breaks, damage) and all fixings are tight on electrical connections? Only got a quick look at the battery connections today. I noticed the wires from the terminals were very warm and i wasn't cranking the car over, which is meant to be a sign of a bad starter i think. AdeMk1
Check the earth straps from battery to body & engine are clean & tight & not broken. Sounds like its time for a new/recon starter though.
