laumk7
I've just retaxed my car online, monthly using direct debit as I'm only going to have it days into March, before I sell it on to the dealership as part ex. Thing is, my DD doesn't come out until March 2nd for the month of March, which I find a bit bizarre, I was expecting around a week at leasts overlap so they ensure the money is there fresh for the month ahead, I mean what if my collection IS March 2nd - which is likely (my dealership don't open on a Sunday) Another thing is, it won't let me just cancel the DD as I'll face a fine I have to give them notice and let them cancel it? As said I'm only taxing for a month as I pick up the new one in March, it's only £2 odd quids per month - but can I really trust them not to screw things up at the dvla? Also the new one is free tax, and the onus is no longer on the dealers to tax the vehicle for you, instead it's up to you to do it yourself (or risk a fine blah blah blah), armed with only the vehicles VIN and later on reg number how the ecky feck am I supposed to tax without the v5c or even the slip (the cars brand new), and without the paper disc how am I supposed to be sure if the dealer has done it for me? As I said they're no longer liable to This new system is just messed up if you ask me Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
Philf1
I'm pretty sure the price of a new car includes a year tax and the dealer does it. No disc or other proof so down to trust. Any issues and you could sue their !Removed! off Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app

Celticfan
When I bought my Focus the dealer got the tax. I just checked online before I collected the car and all was good. Although, mine was a used car not new.
Stoney871
Just done mine online too, the reason the payment is coming out on the second of march is because they only do the debits on working days and not weekends. I must admit I found the process a doddle, I would assume having the V11 with the unique reference number smoothed the way nicely. Just a pity my tax has gone up £15 this year :(
