Crraigan
Fiesta Mk6.5 Ok guys I really need help with this as I have my MOT soon. My left fronot side light and my back tail light does not work. An E fuse blew and it has been replaced with a 4amp. Also looking on the fuse diagram in my car I was missing the lighting L fuse. So I have put a 5amp fuse in. This solved part of the problem. Now my front side light works but my brake lights are stuck on. Is this something simple or major? Thanks
GingerFlame
Hi mate, have you checked for water ingress in the light itself? Also, check for shorts/bad earths
Crraigan
I have tested for power at the light and there is no power. If it had water the lights wouldn't work at all would they? I currently have removed the 5amp fuse because of the brakes constantly on situation. Using the 5amp fuse gives me power to the light but sticks on brake Thanks for the info I will have a look now to make sure though
GingerFlame
If you've water in the lights it could be shorting somewhere and providing power to the bulb.. Im pretty sure that one or more of the bulbs has a switched earth so there's always power going to it?
Crraigan
I have checked it there doesn't seem to be any water. It was raining earlier and there is no wet patches that I can see or feel. Its looking more and more like a job for the garage. Was hoping not but maybe they can tell me what is wrong and I might still be able to do it myself

gillyallan
You have got correct the bulbs? Some bulbs are combined brake and side ( double filament ) some single. Not sure what fiesta has.

Crraigan
Yes I have checked that also. It is tail & brake in one
Crraigan
Can anybody send me a picture of what they're fuse layout looks like to make sure I have got everything in order as I still haven't sorted this thanks
iantt
you got stop tail bulbs in wrong way round? are the brake lights on with just the ign on ? or when side light switch on? are all brake lights on inc centre brake light?
Crraigan
I will check bulb again. The brake lights are on Inc centre when lights are switch on. If I remove the fuse only right side lights work and brake works as normal
Crraigan
Both headlights work too. Just left sidelight and left rear
iantt
Therefore the left rear sidelight circuit is powering the brakellight circuit. Either wrong bulb fitted, as in 21w single filament which bridges both pins or wiring chaffed through in tailgate possible but unlikely
DayleM
I realise this is an old thread but I too am experiencing the exact same problem, did you manage to find the cause ?
