Hi Guys. Couple days ago i received the following email from another forum.

"We've received information at work that thefts to fords are being carried out by people who are using

"skeleton keys" basically a key that fits all makes and models. Regardless of age or security features

cars can be accessed with this key and either have things stolen from them or the car stolen

altogether. There's been a lot going on around Essex but it's just
started happening up Durham."

Steering wheel lock maybe the only way to stop the scum.

What about the keyless entry model, with power start button? Are these at risk?

Are you saying there are keys which bypass the cars electronics ?

Its common to hear of houses being broken into to get the car keys as without the coded keys the cars cannot be started . It would quite some sophisticated device that could bypass the codes on all cars .

As far as i'm aware once inside a Keyless they can plug into the OBD port and reprogram etc. There's been plenty on here about this and on the TV as well.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, hopefully you've got a fair few ANPR cameras that will recognise your plates to give police a better idea of where the car is!

Jus had a call it's been found not far away I managed to get a look at it before the recovery truck took it only damge I can see is door lock and abd sterling key barral. So what's happens now do I take the car back,do I get a choice. Will the car come up as stolen recovered if they fix it and I take it back. Will it effect resale value?

Great to hear it's been found mate! Had it been abandoned in the middle of nowhere or just parked up on a road?

They do that and come back a few days later if not found safer than driving it around and getting caught

Good to hear it's been found, insurance should cover everything but I guess your premium might go up. Hearing about this makes me really thing I need a steering lock.

I wonder if the police can try and catch the thieves by putting a tracker on the car and waiting for them to come back for it...

Very glad to hear that it's been found! Hope that the damage is minimal.

:)

My pals always chuckle at me because I always put the steering lock on my van, no matter where I go, if it's parked up, it's locked. Why? Because if you don't nail something to the floor, some little sh*t will try and nick it.

Prevention is better than cure, etc...

Just so glad that your car has been found though!!!

I try to park where there is a camera even if you pay for parking and i have cctv on the house.

I know it don't stop it but it makes them think.

I'm not a big fan of steering locks, yet another thing to carry and do when you park but they are good.

Most of todays should not need 'the old theft system' but its the world we live in with people like this.

Hope all is sorted mate soon.
